I really want a myspace because I'm going to a different high school than all of my middle school friends, they all have one and I want to communicate with them on there. My parents will not even let me have a private myspace. I also just found out some people are making fun of me, harassing me, and embarrasing me on myspace and I want a myspace so this will stop and so that I can defend myself! If I talk to them about it in person, they will think I'm a stalker or something for going on myspace, reading their comments and finding out! Thanks

Obviously you are very young, or at least are thinking young. Things will improve with time.

Don't listen to pee_bag!!! There are many ways parents can find out whether their kids do certain things online. I have two teenagers; I would know. You will only affect their trust in you if they woud find out. And you are trying to improve their trust in you. Right? right. so, I agree with the first girl; state your case and your request - and if you get the green light: give them your password; otherwise; be thrilled you can i/m your friends @ least. [Plus, even if you have your own myspace profile, you can't really prevent ppl from making nasty comments about you] -You could ask a friend to print something they find so you could then deal w/ it. know your parents are only trying to keep you in as safe an environment as they can... it's probably, sadly not possible, in cyber-space, espec. but they love you enough to try...... so don't be too mad @ them. good luck.

well if i was in your position, i would tell my parents all the good things about it. And tell them how you can make a 100% safe from strangers but public to friends. Make a deal with them, say if you misuse your myspace or someone they dont know is on then you will stop but for then you will have one. Or you can say, (since in private you have to have only friends to see it or whatever) they can check who you are friends with letting them be sure that it is your friends from school and not some stranger that seems cool and safe to talk to. As i will say again, try to convince them or make a deal with them. You can also tell your parents that you will let them check it on a daily basis. but not like every single day becuz for me that would be almsot like torcher (making it kid friendly or rated G or something) Good Luck!

Communication and trust are the most important thing to have with your parents.I believe if you sat with them and opened up to them it will help them to trust you, if i am your mom , i do have a daughter she 29. i would let have it but the computer has to be where one adult is all time and when there not there i will have password to shut down till someone gets home.

Tell them they can make the profile for you and not give you the password that way they have to log you in so they will know everything and wont feel you are in any danger.
