There have been studies done on a herb from South America called Samambaia relating to Alzheimer's. Samambaia leaf and rhizome (root) extract capable of treating brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The patent and several in vivo clinical studies indicate samambaia protects against brain cell degeneration, promotes repair of damaged brain cells, and has a protective effect to brain cells. Basically, the properties of this particular herb slow Alzheimers and in some cases retarded Alzheimer's. Also is Protected the brain cells from Alzheimers's disease. Ginkgo leaf seems to help. Ginkgolides exhibit antioxidant, neuroprotective, and cholinergic activities. Now before you go buy a gingko tree, the herb needs to be processed of minute toxins :). There are also lots of herbs that help as preventative measures.

I saw on the news a while back where they said people who smoked pot a lot in their twenties are less likely to get Alzheimer's, but it also screws up your short term memory.

I saw a report on the new's that said a Chinese herb had been found to help.Sorry i can't remember the name.
