It is only about 2 years old and it came with my HP computer. I have mcafee 07 installed. It flashes super fast like a strobe light. please help! Im using a friends monitor temporarily. Can this be fixed or not?

No I mean flashing so fast you cannot see the screen long enough to use it. It flashes black then the picture, etc

Flashing meaning you can see the screen ok, it just gives you a headache? if so, go to display propterties, settings tab, Advanced button, then in the Monitor tab adjust the "screen refresh rate" a step up (60 Hertz to like 70 hertz for intance)..
click apply, it may say something about testing, click ok, if your screen goes wonky sit back for 10 seconds and it'll come back.
try a few different rates, to see what works better...

While it could be a problem with the monitor (tube, bent pins, broken cord), you may want to try to lower the refresh rate and resolution and see if that causes a problem.
If you haven't changed your resolution/refresh rate and all of a sudden it starts doing this, it really sounds like a bad monitor and requires replacement.

It's possible that the video card is bad. You might need to simply replace that and everything will possibly work fine afterwards. Good luck!

if u have a electrical pencil sharpener it cud be from vibrations from it
