Im 32 weeks prego with my 2nd baby. With my first I had terrible back labor, starting around 29 weeks. With drugs we were able to hold it off untill 39 weeks. Right now I am having some discomfort in my lower back, it isnt as intense as my first ones back labor, but it is more than a normal sore back... I havent been having any noticeable contractions, but I cant help but feel that this pain is something I shouldnt look away from. I called my doc, and he said not to worry, nothing is happening. It just doesnt seem right. Have any of you gone into any kind of labor without noticing the first contractions, and having this same odd dull back pain? If you think it is nothing to worry about what can I do other than Tylenol to help the pain, I was told heating pads are something that shouldnt be used right now... Is that true? Lying in any positon fails to help the pain. Anything and everything will be a big help.

I didn't have back labor with my first, everything was perfectly textbook. But, The pain you seem to be describing, it's very similar to what I've been going through for the last few weeks with this pregnancy. (I'm 35 weeks) At my most recent check- up my Doc just advised me this was typical at the end stage and to try and stay off of my feet as much as possible and use pillows to support my back when sitting and lying down. The only thing I've found to relieve some of my discomfort is to sit on the edge of the sofa and massage my lower back myself. I have no idea why that works, but it seems to help for a little bit.
If it gets worse and you still have worries, ask your Doc to see you, if nothing else to at least reassure you that everything is going OK. Good luck, We're almost there!!

do you know for sure that this labor is going to be a back labor?
because the first one was doesnt mean this one will be too.

Try laying on your left side with pillows between your legs and all around your back/tummy-that is what is working for me right now.
Im due any day.
the only contractions Im having are in my lower belly-nothing like I read they are supposed to be, lol

(hubby will probably have to help you place the pillows right)
& no heating pads-unless is it the kind you can put in the microwave -they cool off after 10-15 minutes.
if you HAVE to use a heating pad-be sure to take it off after 10 minutes and dont use it more than 2x per hour.
they get got and continue to get/stay hot, and can warm up your belly inside really fast.

if you have dried beans or uncooked rice though--put a bunch in a pillowcase and heat it in the micro--that will work as a temp. heating pad, because it cools off after so long, there is no temptation to keep it on.

I am at 33 weeks and have been using a heating pad for back pain occasionally. I wasn't aware that I shouldn't be. It works very well though.

I have horrible back pain. I got a pregnancy pillow made just for women who are pregnant. I realize you are almost there but it might help. It's so comfy. It really has helped my posture and back. Good luck and I hope you get some relief, I know how bad it hurts.

Lot of counterpressure. Have your signigicant other massage your lower back, or put a tennis ball in a sock and roll it over your back.
