When I was in College a French fashion historian and professor came to visit our school FIDM, the told us the real story behind ties. I forget exactly the time table, but I do remember that basically they evolved from handkerchiefs. Men used to wear their handkerchiefs on their chest to clean blow their noses, clean their mouths when eating etc. Eventually it became an accessory that now men wear all over the world. As weird as this may sound I am truly honest about it.

My friend Tim said people wear ties so if the boss gets extremely angry at the employee, he takes their tie and puts it in the paper shredder, so that it would suffocate the person. It was an easy way of getting rid of the employee.

Long time ago orators or speakers would wear a piece of clothing in their neck to keep them warm, and take care of their throat in long speeches. With time it became a custom for "important" men to wear.

i guess thats how God intended men and women to be different. women wear heels and earings and u would never see a guy walkin around in heels
