a friend of mine took her favorite outfits of her daughters and cut swatches out of each one and made a quilt...i thought it was a great way of "keeping" those extra special pieces and making them into something useful (i think it'd make a great "heirloom" piece for your daughter)

I have had 4 boys. they are 17, 15, 12 & 4 mos. when my oldest boys were little I saved my favorite things. In fact my 12 yr. old wore most of what I had for my 17 year old. I kept everything, unless it got ripped torn, stained.. etc. When I had the 2nd boy, I got the things out, washed them up & the same for the 3rd boy. It saved me a LOT of money! Two kids in diapers is a lot of money a week! Feeding 3 is even more! And not to mention that you just don't get as many things from people with subsequent children. Then after my 3rd used them, I felt that they had a good life & got rid of them. Now with my 4 mos old... I know for a fact I will NOT have any more babies(I made sure of it! ) I am keeping them nice & selling boxes of great things on Ebay! :)

My son is 3 months previous and basically starting up to get into his 3-6 month length, so now I really have a huge field of all his newborn and nil-3 month sizes. My plan is to ask round any of my acquaintances who're having babies in the journey that they favor any outfits/toddler products and delivers them away, or i changed into also questioning i'd submit an ad on craigslist and promote them for a million-2$ slightly to get decrease back a touch money that I spent on them, at the same time as nonetheless helping some different person out- because they are getting a like-new merchandise he purely wore a pair circumstances without stains or placed on and tear for very few greenbacks. i do not plan on conserving any of his outfits, as my husband and that i favor many years in between our childrens and that i don't sense like stashing issues that lengthy which will be in use for some different person contained in the intervening time!

I keep clothes that were worn on special occasions, (christmas, easter), keep the outfit they first wore, and the outfit they wore home from the hospital, keep the first outfit you bought for your child, and sell the others on ebay or at a consignment shop. Then put the money you make off of the clothes you sell in a savings account for your child. That way you won't feel all is lost when you get rid of her clothes. Also, try and take pictures of all her really cute outfits so you can still keep the memories.

If you plan on having more, I would keep some. If not, I would give them to friends with babies on the way, or goodwill.
I had 2 girls, and didn't plan on having more, and gave everything to my niece, then I ended up having one more girl! Oops!
Go through all her outfits, if it is stained or worn out, don't bother keeping it. Keep only the clothes you really really love.
Newborn clothes are tiny, you can fit dozens of outfits in a box the size of a microwave, your husband shouldn't get too upset by a couple boxes of clothes.
Remember though, you have alot of years to go. If you put one big box of outfits in storage, for every size sge goes through, you are going to quickly fill your allotted space with baby clothes!
I would do one box for 0-6 months, 1 box for 6-12 months, then 1 box per year after that. Even that is probably a lot of boxes, unless you plan on having another girl in like 2 years.

We all go through this. Just pick a few sweet outfits to save and get rid of the rest. As sweet as they are, you should think of it this way, no matter how many you give away, there will be new memories in new clothes. and there are always less fortunate people out there who could benefit from them. You could donate them to good will, or even take them to a consignment shop and get back a little money from them to buy precious new little clothes to make memories in...good luck..
I have a 3 year old and 2 or 3 trunks full of little clothes from his baby hood in my atic! I know how you feel.

I keep my favorite outfits, and give the rest to charity. The 0-3 month and 3-6 months clothes are the hardest to get rid of because they are usually less worn and so cute. After that it gets much easier. I have a 18 month old and I'm giving 90% of her clothes away now, because they are worn and washed so much. Also I'm running out of storage space for the ones I'm keeping.

I agree with you but what i have done is just keep one or two items that were the favories from each growth spurt. I kept two newborn outfits...and ill keep one or two 0-3 months outfits. I dont feel bad about getting rid of the rest because I am donating everything that my baby will grow out of (swing, bottle, clothing, huggies diapers ill never use cause they suck, crib etc) to charity for mothers who cannot afford all brand new things. That makes it easier to get rid of because I know I am helping someone in need and it helps me to give back to the organizations that helped me when I was pregnant.
I also suggest making a scrap book..taking tons of pictures...detailing milestone in a baby book.

I just keep 1 or 2 special outfits every year, and give the rest to people who can't afford to buy alot of clothes for their children. Try giving your outgrown clothes to a church or community program for needy families. You can take a picture of your child in an outfit you love and remember it that way, but there are lot of people who can't even buy their children warm clothes for winter that need those "too cute" outfits more.

My son is 3 months and I have kept probably four things. The outfit he came home in, His irresistible Pj's he wore in the hospital, his 1st x-mas outfit, and a shirt that says Mr. Milk man! I had to force myself to give the rest away. Well not actually give. I sold them to a 2nd hand store that buys used baby stuff that way I can have more money to buy new. That is totally worth it considering he is 3 months wearing 6-9months. I live in OH I dont know where you are but maybe search on-line to see if you have a store in your area like this. Yellowpages.com might help. Congrats on your daughter!

Go ahead and give them away. Unless you are planning to have another child within a few years, the clothes you have now will not keep well. They will yellow with age. Memories can be better saved with pictures and home movies.
