Unfortunately, the biggest off-season move I see in their future will be when they trade Jason Bay for some "prospects".

The direction that Neil Huntington is moving the Pirates: 2007: sixty 8-ninety 4 2008: sixty seven-ninety 5 2009: sixty two-ninety 9 If i exchange right into a Pirate fan, i could say that's not the main appropriate direction. in certainty, Huntington has bumped off any MLB expertise from the gang and geared up an rather sturdy AA or AAA team. If 2009 exchange into any indication, as quickly as that expertise starts off to mature into significant league point expertise, they are going to be long gone. oftentimes, the trades that Huntington has made have been sturdy fee - he's getting lots of skill in return for the MLB expertise he's giving up. In merely approximately the different company i could say they are doing a great interest development for the destiny. even although, the question remains no remember if or not the Pirates' proprietors will strengthen sales levels with a view to maintain their youthful expertise while it nears sales arbitration time or unfastened business enterprise. so far the information is that the Pirates proprietors are plenty greater desirous approximately retaining luxurious tax circulate money as earnings as a exchange of reinvesting it of their team. (I despise this, if a team gets luxurious tax money they'd desire to have a sales floor to rigidity them to spend it on the gang). I even have not seen something to persuade the proprietors actual prefer to field a aggressive team now or interior the destiny. and that's a disgrace for a franchise and city with plenty baseball historic previous and the nicest stadium interior the sport.

They won't unless new owners come in, its a flat out fact that the current owners don't care, they are happy with the money they are making now. Which doesn't make sense to me, cause investing in the team would make more money in the long run. Mark Cuban was interested in buying the penguins and pirates cause he is from that area, but I don't know what is currently going on with that. Last little fact, the pirates aren't going anywhere for atleast 20 years. There is a clause somewhere that states if they move out of pittsburgh before their lease is up, there is an absurd fine given, I think its in the billions somewhere

It's starting to look like they don't plan on it. Keep in mind, the money isn't there to compete with Chicago and St. Louis. Until baseball implements a salary cap it doesn't look good for the Bucks.

Hopefully sell the team to Mark Cuban then he would make moves to turn them into a champion team again, instead of trying to make money off the team
