The worst book I've ever read was "Chicken Soup for the Soul." It was so cliche with its highly predictable plot filled with absolutely no imagination whatsoever! Plus I can't stand the authors who wrote that tripe. I believe it was written with "The Moral Police" in mind.

However, the best book (fiction) that I've ever read is "The Catcher in the Rye" which deals with a character who encounters a world filled with phony people. I also like "9 Stories" by J.D. Salinger - - especially " A Perfect Day for Bananafish." What beautiful irony!

I love to read but have to say one of my very favorites is "American Gothic" by Robert Block. It was based on a true story. I have two worst and they are "Off Season" by Ed Ketchum and "The Long Walk" by Stephen King.

I guess my favorite book would have to be The Monk by Matthew Lewis ~ fabulous story written in 1790s. And of course, anything by Edward Gorey!!!
My "hated" book I guess would be Beasts by Joyce Carol Oats. It was hard to read and it left me feeling disgusted.

One of the best would be The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. Worst (or one of them, I'm sure there have been many) was The Da Vinci Code.

I have loved many books. In terms of HATED, however, that's easy: Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens. Repulsively horrendous. I couldn't actually finish it.
