It all depends on when you want to go. It is still possible to find hotel rooms in Las Vegas for under $30. If you are willing to plan ahead and take advantage of the slowest times of the year.. I'm already holding 2 rooms for 4 nights(5/28) at Orleans, I found this rate($24) the first of November. We stayed at the Orleans in December for 9 nights, the total cost including tax was $190.75..

You have the right idea, going Sunday through Thursday is cheaper than Friday and Saturday night. Avoid special events and large conventions. The very best time of the year to find great deals is after the NFR up until just before New Years Eve>for 2007 that's December 9th until the 28th...May 28th until June 1 is also a good one.

On the travel sites you can usually find rooms under $30 at the Gold Spike and Western, these are terrible hotels, I would strongly advise against staying at either. I see Arizona Charlie's Boulder for under $30 sometimes, you might check it out...Same for the El Cortez. it's nothing fancy, but at least it's clean..

Other than the Orleans there are a few nice places that have great rates every now and then. I was looking for more nights in May and June and found rates such as $32 for Sam's Town, $31 Vegas Club, $33 Plaza, $40 Stratosphere...$32 for Sam's Town would be a heck of a deal it's a very nice hotel, and one of the best places to play in LV..

The Gold Coast, which is Orleans sister property has some very good rates also. I stay at Orleans, it's worth the extra couple of $ to me..Orleans and Gold Coast will both price match any online room rate you find for their hotel. This gives you the advantage of booking the room and then to continue to look for a better deal, if you buy a room package through a travel service you are stuck.

nope
deals - read on:
Careful - pickpockets and soliciters are everywhere. Keep your wallet in front pocket for guys - and girls need a "belt type purse worn around your waist".

A thought to consider - if you want points, every casino has the "key card" to get your them. You establish a credit account.
They do a credit check on your, and they have your credit report.
Everyone knows what you owe, and every credit card you have, because when your name pops up for casino ID, they instantly have tons of information about you.
That is their "COMP" PROGRAM, and every casino has one.
If that is what you want, you will get just that.

No thanks, no comp program with my credit report advertised to anyone in any casino for me!

But if you want to have fun: Read on -
There are many deals at expedia.com and travelocity.com
lasvegas.com

There are casinos everywhere - so don't feel you have to lose all of your money at one location.
There are roller coasters on top of tall buildings.
There are white tigers on the first floor side area of the Mirage.
There are outside shows at Treasure Island.
Gambling:
There are many where you can lose $50 without even trying, then win $10, then win another $50.
It's easy to lose $100+ a day minimum, so if you're smart
you'll back away if you lose $20 - and try your luck another time, or another day.

Best location, and I stayed there January 2006, was the Mirage and it's next to Treasure Island, across from Venetian Grand canal, and down the street are Bellagio and the Eiffel tower.
You can walk everywhere, or take the bus when your feet get tired (very cheap).

Don't forget to lunch at the Eiffel tower - pricey but great, great food, and across from the fantastic Bellagio fountains that have themes - yes dancing fountains w/music when you're outside to hear.

Lunch also at the revolving restaurant -where you can see all of Vegas during the day - THE STRATOSPHER. The food was magnificent and you can see if you go at lunchtime - where the people of Las Vegas live and the mountains that surround it.

Las Vegas - I saw Jay Leno and he was non-stop for 1 & 1/2 hours of jokes, and we got the last 2 seats in the far section, and it was still somewhat close because the entertainment area was well done!

We went to see Mystere show - and the best is called "O" which means water in French. The stage actually opens for people to dive into, and then closes for people to walk on it.
So amazing.

At the end of 7 days, I was ready to come home. It's exciting, but not enough to say, wow someday I'd consider living there.

GOD bless us one and all, always.

check out the wild wild west gambling hall. its on east tropicana off of the strip and has very inexpensive hotel rooms. I came across some 20 dollar nights when i was looking for my march trip (mind you, i wouldn't stay in a $20 hotel).

Wild Wild West is $19. It was a former ghetto motel, but one of the big corporations has bought it and cleaned it all up. It is also 1/2 mile from the heart of the Strip. best deal in town.

it truly is incorrect, first because on account that there is a large number of corrupion in recent times, Vegas lodges have lately put in safe practices cameras interior the rooms, then there is the actual undeniable reality that its YOUR COUSIN! which signifies that you won't be able to LEGLLY marry him, on account that he's were given ure blood. and the actual undeniable reality that its in simple terms undeniable GROSS! by technique of how, HOW previous ARE YOU???
