I don't think if you drink occasionally that it is bad for you.
but if you are doing it to an EXCESS when you do indulge, you could very easily get alcohol poisoning.
Which could lead to coma, brain damage or death.

Not trying to be your AA counselor, but almost lost a high school friend to it 8 years ago.

Only you can prevent forest fires........
or whatever it is you are doing.
Just be carefull, you don't need to get plastered to have a good time, just enough is enough.

I hope you are of age, cuz, I don't want the ethics police coming for me!!!

As far as I am aware, drinking 1 or 2 drinks OCCASIONALLY can actually be good for you...depending on what you drink. Red wine is said to be the best beverage as it has antioxidants which are good for you.

What is HARMFUL to you (which i believe is what the journal was trying to say) is BINGE drinking!! Binge drinking is definately harmful for you, whether you only do it once a month or once a year....drinking excessively is not only harmful to your body by pounding it with loads of toxins, but can also impair your judgement making it a huge contributer to accidental death/injury (such as car accidents etc).

Most health professionals believe that if you do drink alcohol, that you should have atleast 2 alcohol free nights a week, and when you do drink, drink only 1-2 standard drinks.

Long-term alcohol abuse (drinking more than 1-2 standard drinks most nights) is particularly harmful. This is also a large contributer to accidental death/injury, and is a definate contributer to liver disease as well as other health problems!!

Perhaps if you are worried about the quantity of what you are drinking when you are at a party...drink 1-2 drinks spread out, drink water or soft drink instead of alcohol. If people continue offering you a drink, try and always have a glass in your hand full of water/soft drink....then they wont be able to offer you a drink because you already have one!

Hope this helps answer your question!!

The health journals come out with contradictory information all of the time. Try to drink wine - apparently it is good for the heart - as is dark beer. If you drink liquor, then the clearer the better. Pace yourself by drinking a soda water in between alcoholic drinks.

(1) I don't believe that drinking occasionally is more harmful than drinking regularly.
(2) It depends on how much you drink occasionally. 40% of a bottle is a lot, and doesn't seem like a bright thing to do, even occasionally.
(3) Since when can't you refuse? That's a cop-out. Anyone can say "no thanks". Sorry, I can't avoid some counselling.

Since you can't avoid or refuse- you can take tiny little sips and make the drink last all night- and Not drink 40% of the bottle- it is your choice- what if you were allergic to it?? D

It's not bad.
How could it be? The liver has less to process as apposed to daily drinking.
Your chances of serious liver diseases are much lower.
