(Dutch ban on muslim veil)For those who think that Muslim Women should not wear the veil in public?

.Salam. I am an american female thru and thru who will be converting to Muslim. I'm engaged to a beautiful ,sweet,honest man from Pakistan. To those of you that think the Muslim women should not wear the veil.To those of that think it is just to get attention please read this. Qur'an says:
" O Prophet! Tell thy wives and thy daughters and the women of the believers that they let down upon them their over-garments; this will be more proper, that they may be known and thus they will not be given trouble; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful."(33:59)
Clothing is one point, which distinguishes between mankind and animals. It helps people become more familiar with cultural characteristics of an ethnic group, or with those belonging to a region. Variety of clothing has three considerations to cover the body, to embellish the appearance, and to represent an idea.
Islamic hijab being covering for women protects them from harassment.It isn't a sign of weakness it protects our rights as women.

I think that banning the veil is a step backwards. Freedom of religion is expressed in many ways.

I don't care if someone is wearing a veil or something over their hair - nuns and other religious women of christian and jewish faith have been doing it for centuries in the UK and other countries. The bloody queen wears a headscarf a lot of the time - although that could be an improvement! I do not think anyone should be allowed to cover their face though. Facial expressions are important in communication and seeing someone's face is necessary for identification. People can wear what clothes they want. I don't see the difference between someone wearing a long skirt and blouse to someone wearing Islamic dress. Again, nuns and the like wear all encompassing clothes as well - and it is a choice, there are plenty of undercover nuns out there!!!

I don't know why they put that law into effect. Also, religion of any kind is nonsence to me, but They should be allowed to wear any costume they wish as long as it does not impede safety. Such as driving a car. Also a woman should be ready to unvail her face to any female police officer who want to be able to identify her. Putting a veil over an animals face does not mean it's a safe animal--- same with people.

Celtic here. To answer your question. Islam is a religion far older then Osma. This religion dates back before the Christians. If you would check out history you would see it dates back before the Pagans. This religion dates back to Moses and jesus. So check out your info before you judge.Not all Muslim women cover their face only a small percentage. Most leave their face uncovered. Also check out the percentage of of Americans here in the US and the other nationalities that have converted to Islam since 911. You will see that there is alot more then you realize.
