Because they are idiots and don't realize that people all over the country will use gas no matter how high the prices go.

Because if enough people stand on the corners and streets boycotting, they won't be driving and not useing gas and the price will come down.

I don't know why they think that, because it won't. They will buy the same amount of fuel, just change the day on which they buy it. They need to use some common sense. If they want to actually reduce the prices long term, they need to find a long term solution that will allow hundreds of thousands of people to stop using petroleum products altogether. Good luck with that...

If a Boycott was planned properly, it would bring down the price. It may not cut the price per barrel, but it would cut down the outrageous profits to the oil companies. If everybody in the US agreed to not buy Exxon for one day, you can be sure their price would drop. The others would have to follow along with Exxons prices lower.
In most businesses you can make an offer to buy a large quantity and get a significent discount, but in the oil business you are made to pay more when you buy higher quantities.

OR identifying to purchase a friggin bike, then our united states of america may be one lean advise driving device! If the boycott was properly implemented, then yes, it would work. If for just one day, no one for any reason, bought gas, what do you think that would do to the market?
