i currently have a D-Link wireless router connected to my home computer.
I recently got a HP laptop and got it wireless ready. I went on my laptop and searched for wireless networks i found mine when i tried to connect to it, it asked for my WEP/WPA key. So i typed that in and clicked connect. I connected me the the router but showed that a had little or no connection and i could not even connect to the internet. When i try to connect i am within five feet of the router. so the problem is not that i am too far away either!!!!

I have tried so many different settings and i am now thoughroughly confused!
I don't know what to do next ?
all I want is to be able to use my wireless router to connect to the internet on my laptop

The first thing you should do is try getting a good connection with out WEP or WAP enabled. Go into the routers setting and disable the wireless security and try to connect.

make sure the wep key matches the one that was put into the router. are you getting a valid ip address from the router? check the faqs in the wireless networking forum on dslreports.com
