in case you didnt see it, there was a episode of south park when they were playing world of warcraft, anyway ever since they made that episode i've been seeing alot of world of warcraft things, like the new expansion set with more characters to choose, or the commercial, i even heared that there will be a world of warcraft movie...before the south park episode i dont think anyone ever cared about world of warcraft, and say had they done another game like city of heroes, do you think every one would start to play that?

The South Park episode may have brought more people to play World of Warcraft, but it did not do anything for commercials, expansion, or the movie. Those were already in the making long before that episode was broadcasted.

Well, think about it this. Word of Warcraft is already a well known MMORPG for a number of reasons. 1. Being that they already have a fanbase from previous Warcraft games. 2. Word of mouth, typically people convince others to like games and hate others without trying them. 3.Casual vs Hardcore - City of Heroes is clearly considered a casual game where World of Warcraft you need to spend hours in raids to gain Uber gear to progress in PVP.

As with City of Heroes, if South Park made a movie about it, it would most likely not gain any appeal for a game that is made up of a dedication group of people who share a common interest. World of Warcraft to my knowledge has no real interest for a majority of the people who play. The orginal people who played Warcraft before are living out there dreams of being in the world, the others are along for the ride.

In terms of a World of Warcraft movie, that shows Blizzard is quickly selling out, although I do not believe unless you have some proof.

Personally, I am waiting for:

Marvel Universe - Microsoft, NCsoft, Marvel (XBox 350 and PC)
Bioware's MMORPG - Not More As Been Announced

City of Heroes:
Daze of Lighting - 30
ELectric/ FIre
Blaster
Liberty

Star Wars Galaxies (Pre NGE)
Ashing
Master Rifleman
Master Pistoleer
...23other Masters (1 Month away from Jedi until it was given away)

Neither of which I am currently play

WoW didn't need any help. It had high subscriber numbers long before the South Park send up. South Park deals in social commentary and that's what that episode was about; commentary on the online gaming phenomenon that is World of Warcraft.

I don't know. You know how Matt and Trey are. They made fun of it for a reason. I think during that episode they were pointing out how it is stupid to spend so much of your time playing a video game. (i.e. the boys fat and not having baths) I have a friend who is like that. (well he takes baths but you know what I mean) If it did help the game, I don't think it was intentional

I didn't know the game was real when I saw that episode; the name was so goofy I thought they made it up. I only found out after I saw the episode that it was real.

No, I don't think so. I think that South Park is a cartoon.

i think it drove people away from the game because it showed that if you base you whole life around a video game you will become fat, lazy, stupid, nerdy, and have no friends but the people you meet on the game.
