I would like to discover how to transform iron into gold.
Why? So I could get stinking rich. Then chicks would dig me and I would buy Abramovich's yacht and his chelsea football team and I would have a crew working on yahoo answers for me 24/7 and I would make it to level 8 or 9 and then I would invest all the money on longevity research so I could live for ever, well for a couple hundred million years at least, and then when inter-galactical travel become possible I would buy a planet and make it into jurassic park and hunt t-rex ho man that would be fun!

I would like to be the first person to develop an inexpensive way to make a catalytic process that will turn water into oxygen and hydrogen for fuel.
That way, i can put all the petroleum industry's that produce fuel out of the auto fuel business, thus getting back at at least 3 major industries which have made my life hell over the last 35 years.

I would develope a time machine...one that could go 5 minutes into the future. Wait a minute increasing speed by distance would give me that 5 extra minutes I need to get to work on time. Eureka!
Why? Because I'm always late for work. And I always find myself saying if only I had 5 more minutes I'm almost there....but anyway there you go kid.
Disclamer
Traveling at speeds greater then the posted speed limit is not safe.
Time travelers are still visible by the naked eye thus relative to the line of sight of highway patrolmen.

Jump at? Have you actually seen who is posting questions about this? I'll give you a hint.....it's not the atheists! Re-read the questions asked about this again.... No one (atheist or not) has said that this has disproved or proved God! It was called the "God" particle as a joke! Do you know what a joke is? Wow! Leon Lederman said he gave the Higgs boson the nickname "The God Particle" because the particle is "so central to the state of physics today, so crucial to our final understanding of the structure of matter, yet so elusive," but jokingly added that a second reason was because "the publisher wouldn't let us call it the Goddamn Particle, though that might be a more appropriate title, given its villainous nature and the expense it is causing."

probably a solid unified field theory. Because it'd move so many things from theoritical physics to applied physics which would yield so many things.
