No it is not safe. The surgeon general even has it on the bottle. Studies have shown that they don't know if there is a safe amount of alcohol. I wouldn't take the chance at this point in the fetus' life all the major organs are getting ready to start developing. My recommendation drink more water instead!

A glass of wine is not going to hurt the fetus. What the surgeon general is concerned about is the people that regularly consume alcohol not the person who has 1 drink every now and then.
Are you sure your pregnant? How would you know...if you're not even late? Most test (unless it's blood work) can't even give that kind of information until you are at least 2 days from your period....George.

Yes it is ok to have 1 glass of wine. If anyone here says no then theyre wrong. My doc said I can have one glass of wine maybe 3 days out of the week throughout my whole pregnancy. Why do you think its good for people to have a glass of wine per day. How is it any diff for your baby. Its not like theyre getting the whole glass to themselves. It filters through your body and theyre only getting a small percentage of it!

Ok, to start with I am a man. When my wife was pregnant with our son, her Dr. told her that a glass of wine taken with food at the end of the day, would actually act to relax her from the normal stress of the day, and would be beneficial to the baby. By all means ask your doctor what he 'or she' thinks. By the way my wife's physician was female.

I do not agree with anyone that says you can have a glass of wine.
"Is there any safe amount of alcohol to drink?
There is no known amount of alcohol that is safe to consume during pregnancy, but the more you drink, the more you raise your baby's chances of having problems."1
"Why is alcohol consumption during pregnancy so bad for your baby? Mainly because alcohol consumption during pregnancy affects your baby's cognitive and physical development. The highest risk from alcohol to your developing baby is during the earliest stages of pregnancy, when baby's critical organs are forming and cells are dividing very rapidly. The more you drink during pregnancy, the greater health risks you and your baby are facing. Since there is no known safe level of alcohol consumption during pregnancy, the ACOG recommends eliminating all alcohol consumption during pregnancy to optimize your chances for a healthy baby." 2
"many women are aware that heavy drinking during pregnancy can cause birth defects, many do not realize that moderate—or even light—drinking also may harm the fetus.
In fact, no level of alcohol use during pregnancy has been proven safe. Therefore, the March of Dimes recommends that pregnant women do not drink any alcohol—including beer, wine, wine coolers and hard liquor— throughout their pregnancy and while nursing." 3
There you go -- three sources and they all say the same. I hope I have made my point clear to you -- please do not drink while you are pregnant. Please!

It is your choice, some doctors will allow it saying that it is good for the baby, others say it can cause F.A.S. No one knows for sure how much alcohol it takes for a child to get F.A.S. (fetal alcohol syndrome) so I would steer clear from it but if you really want that drink of wine, make sure it is red wine!!!

Why? It probably wouldn't hurt anything, but just imagine how you would feel if you did find out something was wrong with the baby. If it were me, I would go back to all the times I did something that could have caused it. Why do something that has been proven to harm fetuses (even if it probably won't)?

No, I wouldn't. I have heard of women drinking, not knowing they were pregnant, and having healthy babies. I had a few drinks with our last one before I found out and she is fine too. However, you know you are pregnant so it is up to you to take care of your body for your baby.
