The SAT is administered on Saturdays and is not part of school. You may be able to take it at school on certain test dates. It costs $41.50 each time if you register on time. The fee includes 4 score reports to whatever colleges you want in addition to the one sent to you and the one for your school.

you do have to pay to take it, i've been out of high school for a while, so i don't know how much it will cost now. your school should have all the information you will need. check with your counselor, or ask a favorite teacher to point you in the right direction. most states offer it at specific locations (usually schools). it is generally offered on saturdays. pick a date that works for you and sign up. then you will drive to the location and take the exam.

best of luck!
