Affirmative action is nothing more than a crutch used by minorities. What it really says is "minorities can't compete with white males in the corporate world, or in the academic world of college admissions. It is the exact opposite of equality and wasn't that what the civil rights struggle was all about? Equality and being judged on merits and character instead of skin color and gender. To argue metaphorically think like this if an athlete sprains an ankle he can tape it to help support it. After it heals the tape is removed. What happens if the tape is left in place? The joint becomes weaker, and that's the point we are at now. Michigan Just voted to abolish it in their state, it's a start to equality.
He probably just called you that because you made him look foolish in front of the class, way to go.
No it's not racist though, racial maybe, but not racist. I frankly am surprised he didn't call you a racist as that is typically their first line of defense.
He was probably just trying to prepare you for life after school. In the real world anytime you say anything a black disagrees with he will call you a racist because it is all he has left. Facts, statistics and logic are on your side. Racist is just a general insult thrown out when they lose an argument. So get ready for that too.
Just keep speaking your opinions and use logic and facts when arguing, you can't beat sense into these people I have tried.

Hardships of discrimination have and are everywhere but if you step back and look at the history the white Caucasian American race has had the least amount maybe some from the Indians as he was taking their land when they invaded America. All Americans have the right to be racist but their is a fine line between that and discrimination like if it keeps you from holding a position you are qualified for or receiving a grade you deserve maybe another prof opinion may be needed. PS by the way I am a white male American over 30 and I have seen racism and discrimination but I don't practice them.

First off there is a difference between Racism and Discrimination. Anyone can be racist, white, black, Mexican,Italian,etc..
Only a person with any amount of power can be discriminating.
Being racist is anyone that dislikes anyone that is not of his/her race. They don't necessarily have to be violent, they chose there race over the betterment of human kind.
A Black man can discriminate against anorther black man because he doesn't like the way that man dresses.
I would say that you had a heated argument with a professor. If he had kicked you out of class for your beliefs, that might be a different story.

I agree with "Angry", racism seems to be a one way street and is only that if a white person calls anyone else other than a white person a name that is considered derogatory. Beats me why you can't define people by their roots. For example, you probably can't refer to someone as Chinese, Japanese, English, Australian or American without offending. So if you want to call someone a b a s t a r d just don't call them a black one, an Aussie one etc....
Now I don't subscribe to all this political correctness c r a p, if it were me and I'd been called that, I've have just decked him to prove that what he said was true, of course, if you live in America the land of the litigious zealots, you can just sue him. Should be worth a couple of million to you!

Yes, it's racism. Both the right wing and left wing can be extreme and racists! Any time anyone or any culture is derogated or denounced in some way or special favouritism is given to particular people simply because or their race, culture, or creed, that creates hostile feelings, and Rightly so, from the subjects being exposed to this unethical behaviour! From my experience, affirmative action has created an awful biased double standard in the North American society; whereby, people who call themselves politically correct have formed a shield to hide their particular endeavours (like using the mild sponge of defined reverse discrimination in order to minimize the real result of such potent cruel misdemeanours being practised through re-writing history, denouncing all heterosexual males as the cause of violent actions and assaults, sexual crimes, and so on. On the other hand, we have people in the church claiming that it is necessary to invade peoples' privacy, denouncing certain races because of their race or colour, and so on!

What your professor said is inappropriate, considering his position as a teacher. If a fellow student said this to you it would be rude and racially biased, but simply a matter of debate, and not inappropriate or against any rules. Your instructor has an obligation to be objective in these matters because of his position as 'teacher'.
The easiest way to decide if this is inappropriate and racist (perhaps an extreme label to put on him) is to reverse the situation and imagine a white professor telling a student he is just an "angry black man". The professor would undoubtedly suffer repercussions in this situation because it is common knowledge that a comment like that is not acceptable and racially charged. Racism on the part of black people toward white people is generally not addressed because I think people feel more sensitive about the issue and less likely to report what they consider to be unfair treatment. For example, I go to a college where the students are prediminantly black, and I (a caucasian 'mutt') am in the minority. I get along fine and have lots of friends and am generally unaware of skin color differences. I had one teacher, though, who was a black woman, and treated me completely differently from the rest of the students who were mostly African American. I was at the top of the class but she continually snubbed me and embarassed me for asking infrequent questions. At the end of the course when I took a test to her to correct the recorded grade of 'B' to the 'A' written clearly on the test in question, she went through my test and changed my grade to match up with her mistake. Then on the day of the final exam (2 days later) she called the campus sheriffs to come reprimand me because she felt 'threatened'. (I am the most shy and timid person you will meet, so you can imagine how ridiculous this was.) My black friends in the class were actually the ones who told me that she was being racist and pressed me to report her, but I didn't because I felt afraid, as a white person, to accuse a black person of racism.
I'm not sure it's worth following up with as far a reporting him, unless he starts to treat you unfairly, in which case you should maybe try to talk to him about it; if that doesn't work you should report him to school officials. If he treats you normally after this incident I think you should just 'let it go' as an inappropriate comment that most professors end up making at some time or another.
I hope this blabbing and long-winded answer is somewhat helpful! And I apologize if at any time I was politically incorrect. (I am always hesitant to say 'black' instead of African American, but all of my friend refer to themselves as black, so this is the term I use.)

Usually within the realm of harrasment or discrimination the recipient of the "abuse" must prove that the "abuse or action" of the abuser caused some form of damage or adverse action such as losing a job, being passed over for promotion. While the teachers words are deplorable it is in my opinion a gray area, It isnt worth the effort you will expend to try to bring his words to light. (Especially if you want a decent grade in his class!) Let it go.

The word "typical" is the part that would have to be considered racist-- or prejudiced, if used for some religious group, nationality, socio-economic group whatever. As soon as we lump all "whatevers" (pick your own noun/adjective) together and deprive them of their individuality we are guilty of stereotyping. We are trying to take away their ability to think on their own, to exercise their own (God given) free will--- and lump them into a group... incapable of independent thought or action.
Whether you are talking about---
Indians
Blacks
Whites
Jews
Muslims
Hare Krishna's
Welfare mothers
Trust Fund babies
Intellectuals
.....on and on and on....
Its the 'them' versus 'us' consciousness.
We as human beings need to truly realize that we are all brothers and sisters--- regardless of body type, economics, beliefs, place of birth, education, height, weight, attractiveness, intelligence etc etc etc
And sadly, all but the saints among us have our 'blind spots' on these issues.
As the old 60's song said
"Come on you people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now"
Peace and love

i'm much less in contact approximately what persons are called (me secure) than approximately what they are. i'm no longer able to vote against Obama because of the fact he's black, yet because of the fact he has knowingly made supplies he can’t keep – even with the help of the finished Congress – and could injury or, if we’re fortunate, purely badly injury the rustic he claims to “love” plenty. he's a demagogue who's attempting to seduce the main idealistic and vulnerable individuals of the voters. most of the idealists are youthful and choose somebody they are in a position to have faith in; most of the main vulnerable are blacks, the two people who're the right age to vote and those whose lives would be affected by their votes. all of us understand that racism cuts the two approaches, however the blade is plenty sharper on the black area and maximum of its sufferers are black. They take a beating from white racists, yet they actually get hammered with tips from black racists. We communicate approximately “fat shepherds and skinny sheep,” yet we don’t communicate approximately how “shepherds” such because of the fact the Revs. Jeremiah Wright, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, and “public servants” alongside with Barack Obama, have been given so prosperous doing “God’s artwork” and “the folk’s” artwork. whilst the “ministers” ask their congregants to “provide to help God’s” abode, they ignore to show that God has a 2d abode – it’s the single they and their households stay in and it is spectacular! high quality black applicants have little threat against black demagogues. except and till black voters understand that, they are going to stay sufferers of most of the final con adult males the international has ever considered. they are going to constantly be reminded of the previous and could be recommended that guidance is a thank you to get forward, yet they are going to study with tips from occasion that racism is a greater efficient way and it’s plenty swifter, greater hassle-free and greater profitable. they could additionally be recommended that a competent guidance isn't any assure of a competent job and, with tips from the way, the ranks of the race hustlers are finished so no ought to coach. people who opt to assert that's a racist submit are welcome to realize this, yet first ask yourselves the question implied approximately: How did the reverends and the 1st-term Senator stated above get so prosperous?

racist? a word i believe has become bland and catch-all. bias...that is what it is. insulting...to call you are anyone typical...and using angry about your opponent in an augment...well, that is just lame. I do believe it is discriminatory. why not just call you an angry person? i mean in our cry-baby/cry racist society...shouldn't we just stop applying any description to anyone and their actions? He shouldn't have been able to slander you with the word "typical" how does he know that you are? you may be greater or lesser than typical or average. He shouldn't be able to call you angry...even if you were..or white when you are more than likely some shade of ecru. and was by calling you a man...male bashing? are we ever going to get a grip on this blah, blah, blah blame dog dukey and get our sense of self and humor back?
