I have about 17 books that I want to get rid of. 2 are college textbooks (about 600 pages each), 4 are hard cover books (around 300 pages) and 11 are paperback books (about 250-300 pages). I have no clue how much I should charge for shipping. Esspecially for ebay users, how do you estimate a shipping price without taking the books to the post office first? I don't want to charge too much or too little. Thanks.

Media rate is the cheapest way to ship books. You are better off overcharging a little to pay for the mailer, labels, and adminstrative expense. I would think you're fine with $3.95 flat shipping or just charge actual rate once the book sells. If you overcharge, you might be able to buy a scale for future sales.

Just put all the books that youre going to sell into a box and weigh them on your bathroom scale. Then when you are listing your books and you get to that section you can just put in the weight from the scale. The bidders and ebay will do the rest. because the charges will be fiqured automatically according to the bidders zip code.

How about charging actual shipping costs??
Or, if you want to include handling charges, add whatever you think is a reasonable charge for handling fee.. Say maybe $5.00 for handling

ok - you be responsive to what to value for one e book - books in bulk - you will not be waiting to value the in keeping with e book transport value. you will desire to base that value on weight (bypass to P.O. and get printout for media shipments) Its a chart exhibiting distances by zones and weights - all diverse. you will would desire to base your transport costs on those aspects + the value of cartons and transport tape & labels. sturdy success w/ your challenge.
