Some looked exactly the same, others had gained weight or lost hair. Yes, I had to look close to see who some of them were.
The one that got us was one of the snooty stuck ups, and she was as nice as she could be. Her crowd did not bother to reply to our before reunion party invite, she not only replied, but showed up with a potluck dish and a smile, saying she knows who her real friends are. Even gave everyone a hug, and gave us some cash to offset our expenditures. Wow. People do change, and grow up, and learn that what glitters, is not always gold. Or friendship. Her friends had all moved on, and left her. We were still here, offering a party, and friendship, as always.. We had not changed, but she did.

School reunions are unique in social world. These people know your past and not your present. There's no lying about age--you're all the same. They all know where you've come from.
At 10 years most will not have changed that much. At 30 we were talking about who had had heart bi-pass surgery (lots!). Most will have put on weight, some will look differnent, most look the same. Lots of folks did not show. It was great to see the ones who did. Some of the people I wouldn't have spent a minute with in high shcool were fun to talk to years later. Some were just as shallow as they were years before and I still didn't want to spend 60 seconds with them. The really eye openning thing was the ones who smoked and kept smoking--oh my, did they look years older than the rest of us!
It's fun to hear the stories of where life took people and the challenges they've overcome. You have to put up with the mega success stories, but just smile and know that you knew them when they couldn't pass a vocab test! The best part was the picnics when you got to see the next generation--people brought their kids. Amazing how much those kids look like the "kids" you used to know. Go, bring some cards with your contact information, who knows you may meet some neat people you'd like to keep in touch with that you never new back then. And some of the fun conversations are with the spouses--you get to tell stories on your old friends--ours led to much laughter. Have fun!

The 10 year usually gets a pretty good draw and it's actually kind of fun to see how people have changed. At mine, there were a lot of people I didn't remember and some that I didn't even recognize.
It's amazing how much people grow up once they get out of high school. Sure there are some that are still jerks and others that have become jerks, but for the most part, the old games and high school BS is gone.

I attended my 10 year reunion, and the only one since then that I have attended! I, like you, wondered the same things. People didn't look that different, except it seemed like all the women already had one or two children! Anyone that I was tight with in h.s., I actually had never lost touch with, so there were no dramatic reuniting. I wasn't one of the popular people in school so it was rather entertaining seeing the snooty girls, I kept my distance, but observed that they still appeared snooty! Gee, who saw that coming!! ha ha. A funny thing that happened was that one of the football jocks came up to me and said that I always seemed like a nice person, and he regretted not befriending me in high school. :) I hope his therapist was pleased with him putting himself out there! I was rather amused. Anyway, I'm glad I went, but I've grown up, moved on, and have no need to prove anything to anyone by attending any further reunions. I think you should go if you want to.

Here's my take. I graduated 2 1/2 years ago, so I haven't had the reunion thing yet but if I liked them in high school, I will probably keep in touch with them and if I haven't, why would I want to see them anyways? I don't plan to go to any year high school reunion because I think its a waste of time.

Of course go to your reunion.. I have attend most of mine. And they were great.. Some people look the same BUYS thank goodness for the pics they used from the year book to make name badges.. Save embarrassment moments. Be sure to bring a camera.and pad to write email address of those that you may want to keep in touch with..Bring pics of your family, pics and some you may have of former memories.. I have made some new friendships, with former classmates that were just faces back in school.. Have fun (; I also was nervous but did not let it stop being me... I say I am who I am..
