I was the same way for weeks before I was induced at 41 weeks because of a stress test taken on the baby. When I went for the test I had no Idea I would have to be induced due to the heart rate, but at that time I was only 2 to 3 centimeters and in labor for 20 hours and I was giving oxytocin and for hour I remain 3 to 4 until the doctor broke my water the next day. I hope you don't have to go through this. This was the longest labor time for me.

is this your first pregnancy? you should try to time the contractions (cramps).. if they get regular, say every 2-3 minutes, and pretty painful.. you better check in the hospital so they can do an internal examination. in your case, the onset of labor for you has already started but still in the latent phase. once you've reached 4cm dilation, that is already the active phase..
but you should also watch out if there is a bloody show or if there is a rush of water (means your water bag already broke).. you better go to the hospital by then so they can check..
labor can be as long as 20 hours (the active phase) for 1st timers..
you can try walking around so the baby will "alight"?
goodluck! and congratulations..

The only way to tell is if you are having regular contractions, time them by looking at the clock at the begining of one and seeing how long it lasts then looking at the clock at the begining of the next and timing. For example if you have a contraction at 9:30 and it lasts 45 seconds to a min and then another one at 9:38 and it lasts 45 sec to a min, they are 8 minutes apart. Most doctors tell you to wait until they are 5 min apart and 45 sec-1min long before you go to the hospitol. But I would say even if they are 10 min apart, call your doctor and let them decide what to do with you.

You are almost there! Congrats!
Here are some things to try to get labor on its way (if you want to)
nipple stimulation
walking
lots of sex
hot showers
By the way, real labor does start out like menstrual cramps so don't wait to long hun!

Sounds like you're getting there.
Take hot showers. The hot water on your breasts cause nipple stimulation and cause the uterus to contract. Also, aim the hot water on your back, for the cramping.
Walking will speed things along, too.
Good luck!

It sounds like you may be getting ready. It's hard telling, though. Whichever way, you'll have a baby any day now! Congrats!
