Seinfeld is a great work of comic genius. It did not do very well in the UK, although that was the fault of the BBC and not the programme.

In the US, the third series onwards was shown in prime time slots.

It suffered in the UK when it was originally shown, because the BBC bought the rights in an attempt to copy Channel 4, which had bought several US sitcoms, placed them in primetime slots and attracted huge audiences. The BBC was not used to working in this way, and every week would change the time and day that the programme was aired. This made it all but impossible to develop a following, especially as the show was put on later and later at night. For that reason, one of the greatest and most successful and influential sitcoms has barely been seen by anybody in the UK.

For those who have not seen it, I would strongly recommend it. This show re-wrote the rule book on how sitcoms were made, and has been copied continuously ever since (most notably by Friends, which was a much less-intelligent clone).

It resonated with this British viewer. I totally agree with The Truth's answer. The Marine Biologist episode is arguably the best episode of ANY sitcom I have ever seen. It is so well written. The way the everyday circumstances and events of the characters' lives intertwine and overlap, culminating in one huge punchline, is definitely comic genius. The writers of 'Friends' made entire episodes out of some of the gags in 'Seinfeld'.

properly, my television continually ended up on acquaintances.....honestly, NO CONTEST for me........... at a similar time as I understand that Seinfeld exchange right into a extensive hit to hundreds of thousands of human beings, i've got purely watched it in re-runs while not something exchange into on. acquaintances exchange into merely gentle-hearted, humorous as would desire to be and had the suited combination of character quirks between the acquaintances, so I enjoyed it greater. each character stayed real to their character via the sequence. Seinfeld, exchange into merely too plenty "slap-stick" type comedy for me. i did not relish the certainty that each character, based on the episode, acted like quite a few their brains grew to become to mush and merely leaked out of their ears. i haven't been keen on any comedy it is predicated upon "slap-stick" and outrageously stupid gaffs & gags to get a snort. so as that's why Seinfeld exchange into never considered one of my favorites. yet, having reported all that, i'm going to confess to the certainty that I did LOVE the Seinfeld episodes the place "The Soup Nazi" exchange into around! BQ: fashionable character from Seinfeld? Elaine BQ2: fashionable character from acquaintances? Phoebe/Ursala

Seinfield? That was some years ago. It's not on anymore (except perhaps cable or Sky)...I used to watch occasionally.

I thought it was OK but I was never hooked & anyway it wasn't ever on at the right time to become popular over here.

In the UK, resonate means "to resound, to echo, reverberate" so I don't know what your question means. I know it is on TV but I don't know anyone who watches it. I have caught a few minutes now and then: it's a situation comedy about a youngish, middle class white American man, who delivers scripted wisecracks. Very 20th century

I think 'Seinfeld' is the most idiotic, overrated sitcom ever made.
