95% of hamsters are skittish and bite all the time. It's the same thing as gerbils etc. For the first 2 weeks, slowly bring your hamster out of it's cage every day (in an enclosed place) and let the girl come to you so she gets used to you and your daughter. 3-4 weeks, put your hands closer to the hamster so it's used to those "weird 5 fingers" :) 5 weeks, slowly pick up your hamster and keep doing that repetively.

Hope that helps! Also will these websites I found for you. They have expert advice on Hamster Training.

My hampster bit the **** out of me all the time, too. They're hateful little animals for the most part...sure are cute though. Tell your daughter not to take it personally, it is what it is...which is just a bad tempered hampster. Besides, it'll probably stop biting once it figures out that it's not being threatened, just give it some time to adjust.

Sometimes, there's really nothing you can do. If the hampster has been mistreated as a baby, hasn't been socialized well, or just doesn't like humans, it may never some 'round. I had a hampster when I was little that bit every time you put a finger in the cage. We just took care of it as best we could until it died.

Give it time to get used to your dauter, i know dwarf hamsters are not the friendly est breed, i had three, they weren't so friendly. You can got some bitter spray from any pet store and spray it on your fingers, if the hamster tryes to bite, it will not like the flavor and eventually stop. The friendlyest types are teadybear hamsters. Trust me, one of my hamsters was terrifide of humans but with a bit of time she became the calmest, sweetest and friendlest hamster. I miss her greatly. Just so you know, i had 5 hamsters in the past, not all at the same time.

Well it obviously hasn't had much human contact!. You need to familiarize it with you guys! Put old piece of cloth in there that smells like you! Put it on the bed with you two and let it sniff and run over you. It might poo and pee so put a cover down first. It will take a week or so, but if you do this a few times a day, it will be better! Also feeding it treats (I have rats and I feed them banana or they LOVE sunflower seed. Not too many, fattening) will help too!
Good LUCK!

start with hand feeding treats, use leather gloves for handling at first for short periods of time in a quite area without any quick movements........slowly increase handling time and when she is no longer biting slowly introduce the bare hand. Same hamsters are a little slow to warm up, but most will. good luck

Be easy on it. Do you know how big and ugly a human looks to a little hamster.

Get it a rabie shot FIRST...BEFORE YOU ADJUST its surroundings...MAKE SURE IT ISN'T SCARED...because i have known pets that get very scared when going to someplace they are unaware of...kinda like people!!! AND AS IN YOUR CASE BITE OTHERS...BE PATIENT...it will work!!! enjoy!!
