You see, I am in a percussion group, and a friend and I are building a 3 octave xylophone. We need some square PVC pipes for the keys. Please help!!!! (they need to be HARD PVC pipes too, not soft.)

I know they are made, because I saw them online once. I've called my Lowes and Home Depot and they both quite rudely told me that they do not carry these. And then hung up. Help?

I think your looking in the wrong section in your hardware store, the plumbing section is going to have round pipe.
Try looking in the Fence section at your local Home Depot, they should sell PVC fencing. Im almost certain they sell a PVC gate or PVC fence that you would use on a deck in the shape your looking for.
Your probably going to have to saw it apart, but this is the best solution I can think of.

look for a local distributor of pvc products. Do a web search for Plexiglas and acrylic distributors. They make it, but you will probably be shelling out a bit of money for the small amount you need. Don't ask for square PVC pipe though. tell them you need something like 1" x 1" extruded PVC, 1/4" thickness. If they don't have that ask what types of items would be similar that they carry, or could they recommend another distributor

I am not sure that they even make square PVC pipes. I have only seen round ones, in all shapes but never square. I would try Home Depot or even Lowes. Good Luck :)

A manufacturer is your best bet.... here is a link to Harvel, a manufacturer of a variety of pvc, and cpvc products. They claim they can manufacture a variety of shapes and colors.

I don't believe they is such a thing. I just asked my husband(who who's a lot about plumbing and construction) and he said he has never seen it or heard of it. ;)
