There are several ways to help labor along. This website provides a wide variety, from old wives' tales that actually work (and why) to natural interventions used during labor to help it to progress quicker. I've heard of many of these, and try it before you say "That doesn't work!!" Good luck to you. Blessings

it is actually true that sex can help to induce labor, when you have an orgasm yoour body releases more hormones. I know that a lot of caffiene can start or help start labor. Not much is going to get a labor going unless your baby is ready since it's a chemical released from the babies brain that starts it. There are meds. a dr can give that will induce labor but only if there is a good reason. I wouldn't try anything without first talking to your doctor though. Good Luck

I can only tell you what worked for Me. First pregnancy - never really had contractions, just knew something was either wrong or I was in labor. Went to hospital, they said I wasn't in labor, go home. I went home, couldn't sleep, so I paced the house. 3 hours later, rushed to hospital, never made it to the delivery room. 2nd pregnancy, pretty much the same thing, except I refused to leave the hospital, they said that the contractions were not registering on the monitor, and I was only 2 centimeters. I would not leave. So they let Me go take a hot shower, after a 20 minute shower, they checked me again, and I went right to 10 centimeters, he was born minutes later. So, for Me, walking, and a real hot shower worked. Both my children were born on their due dates. Different things work for different people, anything is worth a try, as long as you don't over exert yourself. Good luck and may things go speedy for you.

I wouldnt try anything to do with herbs and have heard scary things about castor oil.... someone online was suggesting using black and blue cohosh, and my doctor told me that black cohosh can cause internal bleeding! check out these recipes and stories i found online:
1.)Romaine Lettuce, Chopped Walnuts, Gorgonzola Cheese, Watercress, Any dressing with
Balsamic Vinegar
It's supposed to have a 91% success rate. All I know is that I ate the salad for lunch
and then for dinner and my water broke 2 hours later.
Here's the history behind it. I was listening to a local radio station where two DJ's
ran across this recipe from a L.A. restaurant that claimed this salad induced labor in
women who ate it in their 9th month of pregnancy. Of course, these two DJ's wanted to
try it out so they asked for 10 volunteers who were between 38 and 40 weeks pregnant.
To make a long story shorter 8 of the 10 women were in labor within the next 24 hours.
I had remembered this later when I was pregnant (miserably pregnant) and thought I'd give
it a try. It worked.
2.)Macaroni and Cheese with A-1 Sauce
"About a week ago, a friend of ours told us that he had a sure-fire method to 'induce' a late birth by eating a specific recipe," says Ric, father of four. "He had NEVER seen it fail. Of course, we were incredibly skeptical, but we did it and, whether total coincidence or not, it WORKED!"
Here's what you do: "Make sure that you eat the following AFTER midnight of the day that you were actually due." (You don't have to eat it at night, just don't eat it before your due date is over with.)
Macaroni and Cheese with A-1 Sauce: Cook the mac and cheese as usual. When you go to eat the Mac and Cheese, put as little or as much A-1 sauce on the meal as you think you can handle.
"It isn't the tastiest thing on the planet," Ric admits. "Just make absolutely sure that you eat a reasonable portion of the mixed concoction. Within 24 hours, you should have your baby."

When I was pregnant with my first child my husband rode me up and down a very bumpy road several times! The only thing that really worked was when the doc "stripped" my membranes. I hear sex helps too. The doc even suggested it but my husband wouldn't come near me...said he was afraid he would "hurt" the baby. Good luck and congrats!

i does no longer. of course the toddler remains in there for a reason. it is diverse while you're previous due. yet to do it a week forward for no reason is kinda pointless. i will purely inform you the way magical and particular it is to bypass into exertions on you very own. i did no longer get the possibility with my first 2. my daughter replaced into 10 days previous due and my son had a heart arrhythmia. So i replaced into precipitated with the two. yet my 0.33 exertions began on that's very own with my water breaking. IT replaced into an exceedingly thrilling journey that i does no longer commerce for something. so as somebody who has finished it the two approaches, i might advise you purely permit nature take that's direction and allow your physique artwork as that's meant to. it is going to be something you will on no account ignore. i'm no longer speaking with regard to the discomfort. :)

My doctor swore by HOT SHOWERS.
The hot water hitting your breasts caused nipple stimulation, and caused contractions.
And aiming the hot water on your lower back caused contractions.
Good luck!

The doctor told my friend that orgasms and nipple stimulation cause the uterus to contract, so yes there is truth to it!
