They both clean equally as well. The only difference is powdered detergent contains fillers that will "fill up" your septic system(unless you have "city" utilities) I was unaware of this until a plumber had to come to house and and drain our septic system. He asked me what kind of detergent I used. Then he informed me of the fillers in powdered detergents.

Have used dry but Liquid is better. Repair man told us: if you want problems with pump in machine then use dry detergent a lot. will eventually plug up pump. Don't know for sure as never happened because we switched back to liquid. It is actually easier to us as well.

I like the liquid best, the powdered dry sometimes doesn't dissolve well, leave traces on your wash loads. Also many more varieties in the liquid soap. Good luck with your laundry.

Liquid, for a few reasons: A repairman told us it was less likely to clog up the works from not dissolving.
You can put some of it directly on any stains your clothes get, which usually gets them out without having to buy a separate stain removing product.
So many more liquids now, you're more likely to find one on sale. Since I think you get more loads out of liquids, it's cheaper in the long run.

With liquid you can use colder water without having problems with the detergent not dissolving as can happen with powders.

I like the liquids better. You don't have to worry about any powdery stuff being left on your clothes. And the liquid containers seem to be easier to carry, too.

Liquid because it dissolves into the water immediately and doesn't stick to fabric like powder does.

I like the liquid. Especially for blacks. Sometimes the powder gets clumped up on dark clothes. You then have to rewash them
