yes my childhood friend Amber mother use to get alot of it cus she was on assistance an she'd give a couple of blocks of cheese to the neighbors whom would watch her kids while she worked 2 jobs. That is the bomb cheese it melts beter than velveeta. Her mom got off the welfare in 1986 and now is the principal at our highschool.

Yeah, and I raised 2 children on it. Wanna make it an issue? Fine then, let's take it outside, I bet all my WIC and food stamps - oh nevermind, you'd probably kick my butt. The cheese was quite tasty, back then, we called them commodities and the peanut butter was pretty good too. They also passed out powdered milk and eggs. I miss those cheesy days....

Not since I was about 9 years old. It wasn't bad then, but I didn't have much in the way of taste, either.

As a matter of fact, yes. When I was younger, around 9ish.. we were poor as dirt... mother on food stamps, working 2 jobs to take care of the 3 of us... once in a while we got those bricks of govt. cheese. It sucked... but it was food.

Yeah. I used to work at a state prison and they got a lot of the federal commodities. It's good. So is the butter and the peanut butter.

Many years ago, when a neighbor got like 10 pounds of it. We liked it--it said "American," but it tasted like Cheddar.
