considering that you heard an audible "pop" when you stepped in the hole, I would guess that you likely tore your ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament). This is your primary stabilizing ligament in your knee, and no you would not be able to run as well after doing this. You need to see an orthopedist as soon as possible. They should insist upon doing an MRI to find what damage there is. After finding what damage is present, you and your doctor can discuss if there are any options (bracing, exercises, etc..) that could avoid surgery.

You would have benefited from therapy right away. Use ice when it hurts 20 min. on and then off at least 1 hr. You can use heat now too, moist heat is best, put wet towel in microwave and use it over and over. You can look up Physical therapy exercises on the web...then do them slowly and carefully at first and then work up to 10 of each per day twice a day. This may never get better. Sorry, that is just a fact. Once an injury has occurred it often keeps us from doing the very thing we love and that caused the injury. Using a knee brace during walking or times when you will be on it for long periods will help stabilize the joint and that helps too. I hope you get better and are at least able to play the game for fun and not hurt from it...prayers for that coming your way.

Total knee replacement is a surgical procedure in which injured or damaged parts of the knee joints are replaced with artificial parts. Your new knee will consist of a metal shell at the end of the femur, a plastic dish on the tibia, and is needed , a plastic button in the knee cap.
Total knee replacement is performed on people suffering from severe arthritic conditions, Most of the patients who have artificial knees are over 55 years old, but the procedure can be performed on younger people under the following circumstances like pain is severe and frequent enough that restrict not only to work and recreation, but also the ordinary activities of daily living, significant stiffness of your knee, there is significant instability of your knee and also deformity.
After knee replacement surgery, you can improve your knee motion and return to normal activities of daily living. Work and low impact exercises are also reliably restored and about 95% of knee implants can last at lest 10 years.

Then we retired to Arizona the place is it heat each and all the time and the knee gave the impression to be getting greater efficient. approximately 2 weeks in the past the knee gave out interior the keep and that i went down >>>>>> the place else on appropriate the it of reason. Went to a doctor, I surely have broken the bone on the left area of the left knee and that i choose surgical treatment [ yet my Med coverage won't pay for it ] so i will now go through. If I had the surgical treatment 8 years in the past i does no longer been in consent discomfort as i'm now. ethical of all this: do no longer assume something to return to commonly used reason it won't, no longer devoid of the right therapy. i do in contrast to operations of any type yet each and every so often they are mandatory. on the time all this began i replaced into sixty two - i'm now 70. i will constantly have discomfort - i will constantly be taking discomfort pills and putting chilly packs on the knee. If it is what you opt to watch for { THEN decide for IT } it is your existence. on no account have the skill to stroll around a mall for to long, communicate walks with your hubby play with your super grandchildren. sounds like a impressive existence...
