This question was asked in the Israel travel forum (but the question was the opposite: What does Isreali think about Lebanese? do they hate them?) Just curious to see what you have to say.

Just out of curiosity, could you include which political faction you support? And what your religious background is? If you don't want answer these questions, I understand. I am just asking for my own curiosity. Shukran.

This is too general there are all kind of Lebanese with all kind of opnions just like there are some likeable israelis and some not so likeable.
Also, these are 2 countries at war so the chances of meeting israelis is next to nil.
As a lebanese, I don't like Israel - because of my political convictions and values : i think that the jews have not been able to move beyond the holocaust and to make up for their passiveness then are fighting for survival in a terrible and inhumane way. As if the whole world should have to pay for what a small group did to them. there is a much more peaceful way to fight for existence, obviously violence didn't work, who knows if neighbourly respect would have.
I don't live in Lebanon - Although I visit yearly - so I am in contact with israelis more than Lebanese would in lebanon but being on opposite camps politically - and being both so passionate about our beliefs- makes it a little hard to get to know them as
individuals.

hallambra, you said : "What i cant understand, is the violence and the fury in the israelies attacks against the south of Lebanon, killing innocent pple, and only...........as they said..........bcoz 2 soldiers were taken prissoners. Where is diplomacy? Was it necessary to destroy the whole villages killing women, ancients, and children??"

Honey, you have been lied to. Hezbollah attacked Israeli soldiers on Israel's land, killing 4, and kidnapping 2 more. Also right after the attack they launched 20 katyusha rockets on a near border Israeli city.
These attacks took place plenty of times prior to this one, and Israeli Government tried everything on diplomatic front to stop it. The Hezbos won't listen to anyone, and they just do whatever they please, and consider their cowardly acts "heroic".
So, at that point enough was enough, and Israel decided to launch a massive operation against Lebanon, because Hezbollah is a part of Lebanese Government, and Israel considered those attacks as an invasion from another country, and rightfully so, I might add. They bombed buildings that belong to Hezbollah, they dropped flyers warning people that certain buildings were going to be bombed. They even made phone calls to warn people. What country ever does that?
You are also forgetting that during that war, katyusha rockets were constantly being launched at Israel, thousands and thousands of them.

My point is - try to look at another side, and imagine what it was like for them too. Imagine that it was your brother being injured and kidnapped, what would your feelings be then? Also, Israel is surrounded by enemies. Every single country bordering Israel wishes Israel’s death. They have to really bite hard, when their enemies bother them, otherwise they won’t make it.

Just my opinion. I can understand how you may disagree.

If you have some time, watch this Lebanese lady speak about her experiences.
She also once hated Israel.

To John Smith: John, Lebanon is ill. It has cancer. Israelis tried to only get rid of that cancer. The procedure was painful, and it didn't work, but they did try. Did you?

Well Lebanon is very diverse. Not only that, but also peoples' emotions and beliefs tend to change with time. Let me sum up the current situation.

1) Shiites: The majority see Israel as the most evil thing in the region if not in the world, hence its regime should be terminated. So yes they hate Israelis to death.

2) Sunnis: Funnily enough, the majority of them currently realised that they should deal with the situation with realism. They do not seem to hate Israelis as much as they did in the 60's Nasser era.

3) Christians (mostly Maronites): They neither seem to be in love nor hate Israelis. They have been accused of having had an alliance with the Israelis during the civil war. Well, Christians were obliged to, since they both shared a common foe, namely the armed Palestinians.

Barouch haba.

Thank You.

I think that separating Lebanese into religious groups in what concerns their point of view is not precise. I would rather say there is more about political convictions. I think that the middle and high class in Lebanon are very close culturally to the same classes in Israel. Then you have the religious people from both sides who have deep hate. This class separation may give the impression that it is religious, because Shia are relatively uneducated and poor, while other sects are mainly middle class. All in all I think that hate is due to the wars and bombings and killings, and mainly because people do not know each other on both sides. I am sure that if individuals give themselves the possibility to meet, they will have a completely different view!

Thanks for your question.
I think Lebanese issue is not just Israel. The conflict that Lebanese people are facing is with the huge wave of diverse political estimation that every different group follows and believes in. You are right. Lets assume we are talking about Lebanese welfare, are we addressing Moderates, extremist, Sunie, Sheia or Christians?
The Lebanese society is a merge of different types of concepts and aims.
So, which Lebanese category hate or love Israel and what do they feel towards Israeli people? If yes, what is the level of hatred is there from both sides ?

nicely i'm not Israeli, yet i'm Jewish and characteristic lived as a student in Israel proper earlier this summers conflict. So i guess i'm next suitable aspect. I actual have by no skill met an Israeli that hates the Lebanese or their authorities for that be counted. Many regardless of the reality that detest Hezbollah and be conscious them as an enemy that should be stopped. I in reality imagine Israel and Lebanon could make peace. in spite of everything they have a effortless enemy in Syria and they could help one yet another out very much.

You are talking about the Israeli people, right? and not the government.
Personally I don't hate them, I'm sure I would like some of them, in the end we are all people so we have a lot in common despite our political conflicts. What do I think of the Israelis? they are people just like us, I admire them though in their unity, I wish Lebanese were united like that.

In general, Lebanese hate Israel State and government.

I can't speak about the whole Lebanese people, but I think some of the Lebanese don't hate Israelis (the people).

As an American I don't hate both side. I don't hate anyone because we are all human being and the children of Adam & Eve. But I hate what have they done to Lebanon and how much Lebanese did they kill. I live here in Beirut and I realized that the Lebanese wants PEACE and that's it. They don't like war and I fully respect the Lebanese for that.

I LOVE LEBANON

just depends, I'm sure there exists some genuinely good Israelis, but in general most of them are greedy, selfish, and stuck up who think they are god's chosen people..they don't know who god is!! Mainly the reason why the Lebanese hate the Israelis, is because every man and woman in Israel has to join the army; and the Israeli army has always through history murdered and terrorised Lebanese and other arabs...therefore they are hated due to their own repulsive actions
