The title "emperor" is higher than that of king.
For example, many empires consisted of many kingdoms. One example would be Judea during the time of Augustus. Herod was king of Judea, while Augustus was emperor of Rome - thus while Herod had must control over Judea he had to follow the wishes of Augustus.
Another example is the Persian Empire - the Persians were made of many different "satrapies" - kingdom like provinces - and each king had to follow the Persian Emperor, who had the title "King of Kings" - this was translated into Greek after it was conquered by Alexander into "Basileos Basileon."
Another example is the Holy Roman Empire - this was an empire formed of German kingdoms who followed the German "holy Roman Emperor" (like Frederic Barbarosa).
In general, kingdoms are smaller and more homogeneous. Empires are grander. That's why you hear terms like "global empire" but never "global kingdom."
Good luck!

The main difference between a "kingdom" and an "empire" is geographic. Because "kingdoms" are usually small and consolidated they can be ruled directly by the king. On the other hand, "empires" are usually massive and may have widely separated subdivisions which require the emperor to rule indirectly through others.

Well, in theory an empire is composed of several kingdoms ruled together by an emperor and was supposed to be a vast territory.
It is a little elastic. There was even a king in Spain, Alfonso VIII, who ruled over several little kingdoms on the North of Spain, and based on this, declared himself emperor, but a much larger territory ( present kingdom of Spain ) is considered a kingdom, not an empire

A King rules over a kingdom. The kingdom becomes an empire when "they" acquire colonies, one that happens that then make the king an Emperor.

A kingdom was a specific area ruled by a king who enacted the laws, enforced those laws and was the pectorate of the people - this is a general definition
An empire is where one nation conquers others and incorporates them into their boundaries, and enforces laws and policies, tarifs and taxes etc. Empires are built because they despot saw other empires and tried to build bigger and better.

The male is more aggressive and the female is usually more territorial. I have always owned female shepherds they are better around people than the males. I think the females are just a lot friendlier. I also think that the males are not as clingy. Either way shepherds are very devoted to their owners. If you want one to use a watch/guard dog I would choose a male. If you want one for a family pet I would choose a female.

largely semantic, of course a true kingdom must have a king, and an empire is a very generic term.

There is only one: an empire includes more than one ethnic or linguistic group ruled by a single person.
