as jsut about everyone else, i think 13 or 14 is a good age. i am 13 and i just chose to wear only mascara, and chapstick. maybe eyeliner or blush. and, well, a concealer stick for my ACNE, but i have been doing that since i got it.
my mom is in her fourties and she still only wears mascara and chapstick for the daily things...but i must admit...she is one hot mama. :D.
i dont think under 13 is a good age though. my little sister does...shes 11...and i think shes...she jsut shouldnt. she doesnt apply it moderatley. and when you do let your daughter wear it..you should teach her what is appropriate i think. and how to apply eyeliner correctly.
but if its a little girl, like 6 or 7, i think you should just get her some..you know...flavored chapstick..the Smuckers brand.
and if its like...9 to 12 let them wear lip- gloss.
i think those are pretty good.
and by the time they need the real facepaste, they will know it.

When she gets to high-school. Monitor what she wears closely, and how much make-up. Always assure her that she's beautiful.. especially when she's not wearing it. You do not want her to grow up to be like a lot of kids in school now. Middle-school aged children are having all sorts of sex/getting pregnant, I don't know about you but I hardly had my period until my second year there! This has nothing to do with wearing make-up; it has everything to do with the fact that girls want to be/look older at a young age.
So the best advice I have for you is, just make sure you know what your daughter is doing and always make sure she knows she is beautiful the way she is.

"Letting your daughter" is the big question. They usually want to wear it before they are ready. I've raise 4 girls and here is my solution and it works. Daughters always like to play dress-up and make up is part of it. Even at an early age work with them to apply the make-up correctly. When they reach jr. high a little lipstick is ok. If you catch them with the eye shadow that makes them look like a hooker after dark, it time to teach the right application of make-up. Take them shopping and pick out light and natural colors. They will go behind your back, so you may as well work with them. My first daughter loved the make-up, second daughter hated it, third loved it and now the last one only likes to wear it when she is doing something special. My 16 year old wears and applies her make-up like a pro....very natural, it looks great, unlike some of her friends who look like they got blasted with spray paint! My point is, don't make to much of it, and let them enjoy being a girl and you will know when the time is right! Take care!

It's not a matter of age, it's monitering and teaching her how to use i properly. Make up is a personal thing. Don't wait til the day she starts sneaking behind your back, slathering blush on like a drag queen and sweeping bright blue eyeshadow. Buy her modest supply of beginners makeup. Do her make up for her. And show her the steps. She'll appreciate the boost, and its a great bonding moment between and mom and daughter. And I suggest if she's at a tender age (under 13) keep it simple. A light blush, a pink or flattering subtle coloured shadow, and a neutral lip gloss (or tinted balm).

If make-up is used in the appropriate way it can be a great way for her to express herself and her own personal style. At a younger age maybe 10 or 11 you should let her experiment without wearing it out of the house. Then in a few years depending on her maturity level let her wear everyday. Learning to put on make-up in a natural way that is stll fun and self expressing is something that should be a part of every girls life. Not allowing her to wear make-up may make her want to wear it for the wrong purposes.

It wouldn't hurt to let her wear lip gloss at age 12 or 13. But to start wearing full blown make up I would say around 16 and even then, light make up. There is nothing prettier than the natural glow of youth. When she's older she will wish she could have it back.

This answer shouldnt be defined by age. I think that there are alot of pros and cons about girls wearing make up. The girls who wear way too much make up look trashy. The ones who use makeup to just enhance their beauty it what I think is great. I have a daughter with beautiful complextion, and is over very very beautiful. However once in a while she wears alittle eye shadow and some mascara and I think it looks good as long as she doesnt go over board. Try some make up on her, see what she thinks see what you think.

There is no set appropriate age to start wearing makeup. I wasn't allowed to until I started 9th grade, and I think that's reasonable. I would make sure that your daughter didn't leave the house looking overdone though at whatever age you let her begin wearing it. Too much makeup on anyone, especially young women, looks horrible.
