And not just that. What about the 'one baby only rule' in China? Fair or what? Why does the U.S.A continue to communicate with China despite the fact it does not give people freedom of speech? If I were to ask this question in China instead of Canada I'd be in jail within five minutes. What about communisim in other countries?

To answer your point about the US not caring about human rights in China.
The US does not care anymore. They dont care that Tibetans are being "relocated" and "reeducated" in camps by China. The US wants to make money there and to buy cheap stuff there. "Free Market" conservatism leaves no room for "squishy" humanitarianism.

I am a Chinese from Beijing and I can tell you that if you ask this question in China you will NOT be in jail within five minutes.

In China human rights are slowly improving but there are still lots of room for improvement. We can watch TV progrems from other nations like CNN, AXN and even some shows from Taiwan(Of couse, to get these progrems cost lots of money) ! They also let the people read newspaper from all over the world to get in the (Again, cost a lot of money). You can make fun or criticize the goverment and you will be fine(As long as you don't send it to the newspaper).

As for the 'one baby only rule' in China, I understand that it is not the best way, but it is an imperfect for an imperfect world. If we don't have this rule the world will be overrun by Chinese, then there will not be enough basic resources like food and water for everyone. And even with our 'one baby only rule' there are still people that think we are practicing high birth rate because we thought we can rule the world with high Chinese population. What will they say if we don't have this rule?

I don't think about it at all.

But honestly? We have no right to say our style of govt is better than any other. Their issues are not the same as ours and so you can't really judge. As for the one baby rule, you can have however many children you want in China, but you will be charged a fee and you will be looked down upon by your countrymen as being selfish! They have a lot of people there. Obviously, many there agree with that rule as well.

Do you know for a FACT that you'd be carted off for this question in China?? Do you know someone who is currently in jail in china for asking this same question?? I don't think you can really know a place unless you live there.

People from other countries assume a lot about what it would mean to be an american. That we are all fat, lazy and stupid. But if they lived here, then they might see a difference in what they have been told by their govt or media and what they actually experience.
