A thirty-something Caucasian male (PC term for a "typical white guy") is denied a job opportunity because he may not be the right fit due to "cultural differences", as put to him by the company recruiter in a post-interview hpone call.
When I heard such BS, my jaw dropped, I couldn't speak for a moment.
Why is it that a young white male is the only unprotected class in today's job market? Every job application has that standard verbage about equal rights regardless of... blah, blah, blah (you've seen it), but in reality, how is that enforced? If I wanted to get to the bottom of this, what are my options and avenues? And, in the improbable case that I do prevail (hypothetically), is there a penalty imposed on such company? What kind of penalty? I certainly wouldn't want to work for these jerk-offs, but would like to see them fined, or something like that.
This issue has been bothering me for a while, so I would certainly appreciate qualified answers.

Yeah - equal opportunity is a crock. It's a bad idea because it seems to lead to an attempt to fill quotas. Jobs should be based on qualifications, not anything else. Yes, it does discriminate against typical white guys. It should be reported and fined, but unfortunately, I doubt you'd get anywhere with it. Maybe we could attack the NBA for not having enough white players. :)

Some people say it is ok to push down the white guys because they did it to blacks for so long. That's stupid too. What do we tell our kids? 2 wrongs don't make a right!!!

Well don't feel to bad. I have come to the stark realization that we Caucasian males have now entered the realm of being pushed out. I work for a Major Retailer and I am seeing more women, Hispanics and blacks being moved into management positions. Women are gaining the greatest share of the positions especially if they fit into the other two racial minority categories. The only males I see advancing are meeting the racial criteria. So there you go, Equal Opportunity Employer is an empty buzz phrase. With several lawsuits having been filed against my employer, they are positioning themselves for the "We don't know what you're talking about Judge" argument. By the time these Class Action Suits get to a real court they can say our management consists of 65% Female, 40% Black American and 32% Hispanic.
Those figures are hypothetical but I'm sure you get the picture. I'm not a racists or do I believe in discrimination against anyone, but the trend seems to be reversing against Caucasian Males. Eventually we will have to file our own class action lawsuit to get back into the work force.

It's really the political party names that have been misused and misrepresented. The words conservative and liberal became innocent victims.... Republicans attach the word "conservative" to their party and Democrats attach "liberal" to theirs. In reality, both parties are neither. They're exactly the same, even though they try to create the illusion that there is a healthy level of debate to balance out the powers in this country. They do this to make everyone feel good, give the media something to write about, and get publicity. In reality, they are all looking out for themselves and by extension, each other. That's the easiest way to maintain and enhance their power, and thicken their wallets. Their normal constituents can't help them with that, so our interests don't even register with them.

You know what? Its wrong any way you slice it. And i do appreciate you for not BLAMING groups, but the corporation itself. I think that if being an EOE, is just implimented to uphold appearances than its self defeating.

The reasons that the we have EOE is with merit, I'm not saying we don't need it. (Because we both know its most often who not what you know) But it should include protection for ALL people, not just those represented by AL SHARPTON. lol sorry i couldn't resist.

White heterosexual males are the most discriminated group in present day America. By closing out this group America will further decline since it's white males who made this country great...

It probably isn't when it comes to race, religion, handicap, sexual orientation, etc. but I really think it is when it comes to age. I know so many people between their 40s and 60s who can't get jobs--of course, they are never told it's due to age.
