Over 3 days the hot water gradually disappeared from the tub. One day it was slow, then slower.. now it's not working. The hot water in the other 2 sinks work, but not at full pressure like they were.

What went wrong and what needs to be fixed? My scumlord takes forever to fix things and I'm wondering if I could do it myself.

Sounds like tiny rock buildup in the faucet. Turn off the water to them before doing any work on them. Look for the turn off valves. They are usually close by. Sink and bathtub.

Is the house where you live an old one? In old houses with iron pipe plumbing, the pipes become clogged with mineral deposits and rust. Have you seen signs of rust in the water or mineral deposit build-up in the toilet? Eventually, the pipes can become completely blocked off, especially if a chunk of rust or minerals breaks off and becomes stuck in a valve or showerhead. This usually happens on the hot water side first because the heated water causes the rusting and mineral deposits to occur more rapidly. Pipes in the plumbing system will clog at different rates due to their varying flow rates and placement in the system. A tub, for instance, uses a lot more water than a sink, and it will accumulate more rust and minerals due to the greater water flow. You should call the landlord to have a plumber come out to fix this. In most old houses, this situation can only be fixed by replacing the clogged pipes. You might try removing the shower head, which may be cleaned by soaking in vinegar to remove mineral deposits. Most likely you need a plumber to fix what is going on. If you have more ?s or need more info, add comments, and I will try to help you. Good luck!!

It could be several things, but my guess would be that the valve on the tub is a 'mixing' valve.
They are designed to prevent scalding from sudden water pressure changes (like flushing).
If the valve goes bad, it won't mix any hot water in with the cold.
It might also just need an adjustment. But that requires disassembly.
Unless you have worked on mixer valves before, it's best left to a professional.

I think you have a leak in a pipe and that it is probably somewhere near the bathroom.Have you noticed and water anywhere? I doubt that whatever the problem turns out to be you can fix it yourself. You need a plumber.
