not as bad as these things you can do at the dinner table:
1) using your spoon as a catapult to shoot peas across the table
2) throwing up on your brussels sprouts so you don't have to eat them
3) blowing bubbles through your straw into your milk
4) playing "hide the cucumber"
5) inviting the dog onto the table to eat your burned steak
6) farting really loudly and shouting out loud, "Hey get a whiff of that!"
7) spraying milk out of your nose while laughing
8) talking about your field trip to the sewage treatment plant
9) asking if the pork chop was from free range pigs or pigs that wallowed in stinky mud

Let ME put it to you in a way that you may be able to get it. Would you go take a big smelly crap and then wipe your butt with the toilet tissue? If the answer is yes to either, jerry jerry jerry. Call the jerry spinger show

It's better if you hide a small rubber ball in the napkin, an elastic band would suffice, then blow your trumpet then bounce it off the floor and catch it, put in pocket as nothing hapened.

Not, according to Modern Day Etiquette by Barbara Hackitt, if you have just passed wind. In fact she recommends this as a good distraction in these cases.

It's bad manners, but it's not "bad bad".
Just make sure the napkin is not filthy. It would be a shame if you end up with ketchup on your nose... :-)
