my ipod vidieo frose?

I was playing a video and it started stuttering and then it became frozen its been frozen for the last hour it was hooked up to an stereo but it was doing this before I got the stereo

push the menu button and the play/pause button at the same time. hold it for a minute. it should re start or shut down.
