is the host howie mandel famous for doing something else? or is he related to somebody more famous? he looks so familiar to me for another reason other than deal or no deal.

He used to be a stand up comic who put rubber gloves on his head and blew them up with his nose until he was injured by breaking some kind of vessel or something from the pressure he exerted during the act.
He also played Dr. Wayne Fiscus on St. Elswhere
He was in Little Monsters, Walk Like a Man, he did the tv show Bobby's World and the voice of Gizmo in the Gremlins movies.
He has been in episodes of Lois and Clark, Homicide Life on the Street and The Outer Limits as well.
He used to do a lot of stuff for The Tonight Show and he substitutes for Regis on Regis and Kelly sometimes.

Howie Mandel is also a stand up comedian. He also created as well as a voice actor for Bobby and Bobby's father in the cartoon Bobby's World. He also had a short stint in hosting his own talk show in 1998.

Howie Mandel started on St. Elsewhere and he is an accomplished stand up comedian. He got into cocaine kinda heavy and fell of the radar - hasn't done anything new in years but he is funny as hell.
