Of course... been a horror fan since I can remember. I realized how immersed I was when I was sitting down watching Carpenter's The Thing on cable when I was 12 and happily chowing down on some beef stew watching all the gory FX thinking "ok, if I can eat while watching this, I've hit a new level as a kid watching horror movies".
I care more about mood and atmosphere, but most horror movies nowadays really aren't like that. It's more gore to gross you out, or moments to make you jump. Right now I think the best movies are coming from overseas, esp. from Asia.

if you mean horror/slash flims as nasty eg's being Halloween Friday the 13th and nightmare on elm street (* and others in that genre) .. i used to love them in the 1980's .. it was like a test of bravery to be able to sit through the film without freaking out ..
Then in 1991 somebody i knew was murdered and that made me realise that portraying murders for entertainment was a kind of sick form of entertainment...
I am not meaning flims that solve crimes , or films that depict true case murders ( like the black Dahlia) but films that glorify the act of murder by wiping out three quarters of the cast by hanging them on butcher's hook and other ick things ....
the ONE exception though is a film ( can't think of it's name ) but it was actually a send up of the slash horror genere.. the catch phrases in the film were " daddy what are you doing " and "she's going to be horibbly scarred for the rest of her life".. no real slash scenes.

YES, i do, i love to watch them at night when every body has gone to sleep and man its scary when there is not even a single ambient sound and all you hear is the movie and with 5.1 surround its mean....
try watching the grudge at midnight with 5.1 or pulse and the grudge 2.......its sure going to knock your socks of or you are going to get stuck in the sofa............
