You can get good blockers that block sites of certain types, but they all depend on many factors based around the browser.
As many blockers that arise give rise to many sites that find a way around the blockers. Simply, the reason is that sites will be included unless specifically precluded, the real solution that many larger businesses seem to use site are excluded unless specifically included.

Depends on what browser you are using. Use Firefox. The Addons give plenty of options. The new Internet Explorer is efficient too. Else use any firewall to control the way ur browser works. block websites on the firewall.

If you are using any of the major browsers, it will have its own built-in feature for blocking baddie sites. You can download third-party software to help you but you already have the basics to begin with.

It blocks sites by using the hosts file. It has an update feature that will download know bad websites from a database and automatically add new entires in your hosts file.

go to download.com and type in popup blocker and there will be a bunch of them that will be avalable.
