A bit of corn is fine. My desert tortoise is gone now, but he loved rose petals on top of his food. It would entice him to get started eating his meal.

Corn is ok as a treat. It has no nutritional value other than sugar. You need to have a balanced diet with a lot of leafy greens for him to be healthy. Corn is no better than candy.

What kind of tortoise?

In general, as a part of a more balanced diet, it is not a big deal, but if it is a main item it is not real good.

Here is a good article on tortoise diet that works for many species: http://www.petdoc.ws/TortDiet.html

I would use caution feeding any animal corn as it has low nutritional value and is also hard to digest.

I feed my tortoise leafy greens (kale, mustard, dandelion), sweet bell peppers, peas, green beans.
