Key is finding a very patient teacher who can work on the fundamentals slowly, over and over again, and still provide encouragement to your daughter to keep trying.

This will not only teach her music and the guitar, but some very important life lessons about self-discipline, not quitting and perseverance - some of the most important stuff in life.

I'm a professional recording musician, and encourage you as a parent to do the hard work and find a good teacher for her - it will pay enormous dividends in her life for decades to come.

Best to you.

Don't hold your daughter back from learning to play the guitar, just because of poor dexterity. Maybe once she starts playing the guitar, it'll help with her dexterity. As her mom, please encourage her to play the guitar & the subject of her dexterity should never be mentioned. If you do, your daughter will learn to put limitations on herself all through her life. We parents have to encourage & support our children. Our children depend on us to always be there to support them.

Let her prusue her passion. What better way to improve dexterity than by learning a musical instrument.
Just find a good, & patient guitar teacher.

The guitar is really hard to play.My mom tried then quit.I play alto sax and I'm doing very well. You should try something easy first then if she is good put her on something harder.I play in the school band and i really like it because i get to be in a class and get help from other people, also it's every day so you get A LOT of practice and you learn very fast.

Start her off on an acoustic guitar first and get her some lessons. You don't have to spend a lot of money on the instrument just in case she doesn't pick up on it well.

No one starts at the top. Practice is the only way to get good on any musical instrument.

All you can do is try. It might help her dexterity in other things. It isn't that expensive to get started. Good luck.
