Winter- if it KNOWS it is winter it should be hibernating. Otherwise, we should be tricking it into thinking it is still summer and feeding it that way.

A good box turtle mix is about 1/3rd bugs, worms, snails, etc. (only a few mealworms- they are fatty and hard to digest). 1/3rd other forms of protein- such as soaked pellets of a 'maintenance' cat food. 1/3rd veggies, especially dark leafy greens.

They can go several months without food- but that does not mean it is good for them. A turtle that does not eat for over a week is a bad sign usually.

I HAD A BOX TURTLE. I FEED HER MUSTARD GREENS, PEAS, STRAWBERRIES, APPLES, I KNOW THAT THEY CAN NOT HAVE ICEBERG LETTUCE, OR SPINACH. ANY OTHER LIKE ROMANE LETTUCE IS OKAY. IN THE WINTER TIME THEY HARDLY EAT . THEY SLEEP MOST OF THE TIME. I WOULD LEAVE SOME FOOD IN HIS HOME AND KEEP AN EYE ON IT. AND KEEP CHANGING THE FOOD IF ITS SPOILED. AND KEEP THEIR WATER FRESH. I KNOW THEY LIVE A LONG TIME BUT NOT SURE.
