I think people have different opinions on this one.
Some will say it's when you have just met someone and jump into bed with them, with no plans on meeting again.
i say, it's anytime you have sex just once with a person regardless on how long you've known them.

I have heard it said the average one night stand lasts for about 3 weeks but I think a "true" one night stand is one where you have sex and never have sex with the person or date again.

A one night stand is when you hook up with someone for one night (sexually), whether you knew them previously or not, and then don't have a relationship after. It's just the "one night". Hence the name.

A one night stand in my book qualifies if you met a person, did the deed, then never did it with that person again.

a one night stand to me is having sex with someone for one night only can be with a stranger, a friend, ex boyfriend/girlfriend
