Some how someone I do not like has gotten my ebay username, and I am going nuts trying to find out how this happened. I have contacted ebay about this, and they said there was no way that they leaked that information. If anyone would have any suggestions about this please share.

Very easily. This usually happens when you receive a 'spoof' email from someone purporting to be ebay or paypal. If you click the link in the email it will take you through to what looks like the authentic site, however it is not. Then when you enter your ID and password they capture it. Best thing to do is ask ebay to cancel your account immediately. Be on the lookout for these spoof emails and email them to spoof@ebay.co.uk or spoof@paypal.co.uk

Yeah, like the guy above said, either you got an email that you believe was real because it looks like all other emails and claimed that your account is in jeopardy of being suspended, or that they lost your credit card number, or they need you to reauthenciate for any reason what soever, and if you did that, then thats how they got it.

Another way is someone (that you know and has access to your computer) installed a keylogger program. It's a program that runs secretly and records every button you push on the keyboard. They would need to retrieve that somehow, either while sitting at the machine or remotely possibly. But that basically means the program got installed on your machine.

Last, you downloaded a virus/trojan. There are many flavors of trojans/virus. Some of them also come with keyloggers as well. Some of them have the ability to see any SAVED username/passwords on the computer, including cookies. If you check that box on Ebay that says Remember me, then your username is stored in a cookie on your computer and that can be retrieved easily. Run antivirus and antispyware programs (like spybot.net) to verify if any rogue programs are installed.
If you dont have antivirus at the moment, then at least go to zonelabs.com and click download. Download the 15 day free trial of Zone Security Suite ( http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/trial_zaFamily/trial_zaFamily.jsp?dc=12bms&ctry=US&lang=en&lid=db_trial ) which has BOTH antivirus and antispyware. Do a scan.

now how did they get your password? it's called phishing. somewhere on ebay you clicked on a link, profile, page - something, and you saw the ebay login page. but wait - it wasn't really the ebay login page. it was a FAKE LOGIN PAGE. that fake page was created by a spammer who is waiting for you to enter your email and password. once you've done that, he's stores your info.
