the use of gestures are apart of language. or.. Gesturing as in non verbal communication is one of aspects of language evolution.
a person has many roles in society. for example not only can a individual be a mother but also member of her children's' PTA. still people find many roles to fill in their social group depending on the need of the group. this is the best i could think of
