Can I give a yeast infection to my sex partner?

It is possible (though not common) for a sex partner to develop a yeast infection. If you are treating a yeast infection — or think you have one, but haven't started treatment for it — and your partner has penile itching, redness, or discomfort, he should contact his physician. Your partner's physician should know you are treating yourself for a yeast infection (or suspect you have one) so a precise diagnosis can be made.

Can I get a yeast infection from having sex?

Rarely. While a yeast infection is not a sexually transmitted disease, it is possible to contract one through sexual relations. However, sex is an uncommon source of infection. Yeast infections are the result of an imbalance in the vaginal environment, which can have a variety of causes.

What symptoms might my sex partner feel if I gave him my yeast infection? Can he use MONISTAT® externally?

Your partner should contact his physician if he has penile itching, redness or discomfort. He should not use MONISTAT® cream, which is specifically for vaginal use only. His physician should be told that you are treating yourself for a yeast infection (or think you have one) so an accurate diagnosis can be made.

Yes, she can. Which if intercourse isn't refrained from until both have received treatment and have recovered can cause the couple to pass the yeast infection back and forth. Yeast infections are caused by an abnormal growth of bacteria and just like any bacteria, these can be transmitted!

Yes, it can be transmitted. It's not a definite that the partner will get it, but there is certainly a chance they will. Intercourse while having a yeast infection wouldn't be very comfortable anyway, so abstain until it's cleared up.

yes that is absolutely true, a women can pass on a yeast infection along with Urinary tract infections to their significant others. Also the worse part is that your significant other will keep passing it back to you every time you will have sex, so the meds your are taking will be pointless. Stop having intercourse until you are rid of the yeast infection, even if your boyfriend has contracted it from you he will not notice any syptoms for a while besides frequent urination.

Yes sweetie, that is definately possible. If the partner isnt treated for it as well, then she can and will be reinfected when they engage in intercourse again. That is why it is important to get yeast infections treated, and to remain inactive sexually until you are finished with your treatment for the infection. It will not get better until it is treated. If you have a yeast infection,i suggest you simply wait until it is gone.It will not hurt you to wait a few days until it is cleared up after it is treated.Good luck hun and have a good evening.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment
