I was told that if you put soap in amongst your clothes and in your linen cupboard that it would keep the silverfish and moths out as they don't like the soap. Is this true?

silver fish and moth like the dampness in the clothes.
soap may help as some of the chemicals in hte soap might be unpleasant to the creatures.
keep silicon pouches in hte clothes.
when u buy the new shoes or new purses, u might find small pouches of silicon granules, I never throw those and always use those for some corner in the cupboard shelves
silicon is highly absorbant of water, it is even used in fridges and airconditioning pipes.

I don't know about soap and/or silverfish. But we used to have a fairly bad problem with moths and found that bay leaves (use whole leaves, on the cooking/spices aisle in the grocery store) really keep them away. Also, sulfur is very effective at controlling other pests (easy to find at small town feed stores & cheap) Good luck.

My second cousins' mother had a problem with silverfish. She discovered that they were coming up the sewer (floor drain) in her laundry room and invaded the house. She used everything, nothing worked. Then out of frustration she took a bottle of bleach and poured it down the sewer. It worked. She has been free of them for decades.

i heard if you use water and soap in a coffee can it will attract them and they drown in the water
