String a clothes line above the food or gift table. Have everyone bring one unwrapped layette item (in addition to their shower gift.) This can range from bibs to onsies to sleepers etc. When guests get to your house give them clothespins to hang the items on the line. It is an instant decoration and the tiny clothes are sooo cute to look at and women ohh and ahh over what they bought (at least they did at my shower!) It also helps you prepare for all the layette suff you need!

First of all, make sure there is a good amount of appetizer food, essential for any get together. Also it is helpful for the mother to register somewhere. Target is a great place for that. I know u say no hokey games, but here are a few fun ones just in case. Baby Food Tester. Take the labels off of about 8 baby foods, number them so u remember which is which. Everyone samples the food, then guesses the flavor. It is pretty fun for everyone. Also guessing the waist size of the mother using yarn is fun. Just go simple on the decorations, a few pastel baloons and a couple streamers can make it cute. Most important, take pictures for the mom to put in an album. Or create a baby shower scrapbook for her, that would be an excellent gift for her when she has the baby!

You can try guess the baby food. take different jars of baby food ( pull labels off) and put a sample of each baby food on a plate.

Get a diaper bag and fill it with tons of different baby needs. you can buy cheap tiny little teethers, rattle, baby soap, lotion, and so forth at the dollar store. even if a friend has some of these items, fill a diaper bag and then have every one guess what is in the diaper bag.

Guess how many toilet paper squares will go around the mother to be or length of string that will go around the mother to be's belly.

When you do the punch make it blue and put rubber yellow duckies in the punch. The mother to be can use them for her baby.

This isn't a game, but my sister has made baby diaper "cakes" for shower gifts. They're very cute. You get newborn size diapers and roll them up (put rubber bands around them) and make a layered cake out of them. You can use ribbon to hold each layer together, then use more ribbon, pacifiers, baby keys, teething rings, and whatever cute stuff you can find to decorate the outside. They're usually 3 or 4 tiers high. You may be able to find a picture of one on the internet, I know she did. Just google "diaper cake", you're bound to come up with something if you need a picture. It's really a very cute finished product, and you can use everything on it.

well i threw my older sister one for her last child and im not wealthy at all and it was in a very tiny place.i just picked the colors i wanted to use which were pink white and purple pastel colors ofcourse for the ballons...all i did was tie most of them to chairs and a few by the corners of the windows.for games i did the how big is her belly with the string where everyone has to guess how big her belly is around.i did another one where everyone had a name tag of a baby item like diaper,stroller,babywipe..etc and if you called someone by their real name and not the name on the name tag whoever caught you got to steal your baby pin which you can find at walmart in the crafts aisle...whoever had the most pins at the end would win a prize..we also did one that there is pictures of baby items on a paper and you get to look at it for a few seconds and try to memorize what you can who ever memorizes the most wins.for food just try and see if you can get people that are coming to pitch in.once you get the basics your good to go...

I had a tea party for mine and I refused to have games. I had sandwiches with crusts cut off, English desserts and about 15 different types of tea.

I had people thank me for not having games, as well as tell me it was the best babyshower they had been to.
