The SAT for Dummies book is probably a good place to start.
To study, take as many practice tests as you can find online and in books and then study primarily the stuff you missed rather than trying to study everything you imagine might be covered. Take a quiz or two every day. When you've finished each one, go back and find out why you missed anything you missed. Then do the quiz again after researching the new answer.
You can find used books in Half Price books and libraries, and even though they are not up to date they provide practice tests that will give you some variety in what you study. There are practice tests online and in the new study guides, too.
There are also courses you can take on how to study for the SAT. Your guidance counselor at school should be able to help you find them.

not really. the SAT should reflect the kind of student that you are. don't study so hard in order to get a good grade and get into a good college because that's a pretty accurate estimate of how hard you're going to have to work in order to graduate from the best college that you can get accepted into with the score that you get. just study a little bit and take the test and somebody out there will want you. good luck and I hope that helped.
There are also practice tests on the internet. just google "Practice SAT" and a bunch of sites will come up, some of them free.

It's quite hard. I would see if your parents are willing to pay for a prep course. Kaplan Test Prep is the best, but there may be other good ones as well. But if you do go, you have to do whatever homework they tell you. Improving at the SAT comes from learning some basic strategies and concepts, and then practicing them ALOT. If you can't afford a course, you can still suceed on your own with books, but you will need to be very disciplined, setting yourself a clear study schedule and sticking with it.

the hardest thing I found with the exam is the time limit per section. I would get through about half of the questions and so the rest would be left blank. DON"T do that! At least fill in the dots for the questions remaining. I would also concentrate a lot on analogies because there were a lot of those.
GOOD LUCK

It's kind of overwhelming when you first take it. But if you pay attention in English and math you'll do okay. Just take the test as many times as you can because you improve every time you take it. Get one of the SAT study guides at school or the bookstore.

there are like a million books, really any will do.
also, see if your school has a class.
also, the college board (the organization that makes the SAT) has a website that is quite useful. there are study tips, newsletters, and an email "SAT question of the day".
