I am interested in trading in a Dell Insperion 2650 and an Older Compaq model, but I am not sure how togo about this or what value I could expect for them.

When I do so do I just recieve store credit, or does it immediatly apply toward a computer?

Most stores don't purchase computers. Those that do may give you a few hundred, if the computer's not that old. Maybe you can sell it on ebay? I see the 2650's going for about $200.

The stores that do purchase computers probably don't have the latest and greatest ones available anyway...so now you have to ask yourself why you're upgrading in the first place?

Whenever I upgrade, I keep the old computer around for a while to make sure I saved all my data, and then I just toss it in the dumpster.

Computers, both desk and laptop, depreciate so fast. A top of the line model today is obsolete in a year. Computers are also dropping in price due to stiff competition between manufactures.

I have never heard of anyone offering a trade-ins on computers. Maybe you can sell it locally.

You will be lucky if any one will give you a trade in. Try and sell it privately.
